Hello george...if your printer was working ok before the updates, you might try going to device manager, and "rolling back" drivers to the previous versions. You may have downloaded a non-compatiable or a partial file thats causeing the problem.
Good luck...i hope this helps, please rate me a fixya.

Sorry I don't speak Swedish, but the settings you are after are in the control panel (assuming you're using Windows).

In XP click Control Panel, then Automatic Updates. You should have an option for "Download updates for me, but let me choose when to install them."

In Windows 7, click Control Panel, then Windows Update, on the left choose "Change Settings", and from the drop down you should have a setting for "Download updates for me, but let me choose when to install them."

It will turn over but not start

I just had to have my fuel pump replaced for the same reason. The first time it happened the truck started after I waited 10 minutes. The second time it started on the second crank. Finally it just died in the middle of the highway and would not start again.

Hi I am having a bit of a problem... A few days ago I kept getting this message saying I needed to update my flash player. So I said yes, my computer went nuts! I started to panic so I tried setting it...

It's possible that the "extra" disk-activity (downloading & installing Flash Player, and using "System Restore" to activate a previous check-point) was enough to cause the disk-drive to "die".

Take your computer to a qualified technician, for proper trouble-shooting. You'll probably need to buy a new disk-drive, and to reinstall Windows.

None of the Microsoft suggestions correct error #0x80072F8F and allow me to get updates

search for updates manually. especially for installer 3.1 install it and restart your computer. Check Services and make sure windows automatic update service is set to automatic and started. Check time and Date and download the latest version of internet explorer from microsoft site. Install it and it will automatically update many root certificates for your windows. Set the security setting of internet explorer to default level and finally try to use update application of windows. It should work.

Unable to install EasyLink Internet Launchpad to my computer

I posted this on Amazon earlier, where people seemed to be trying to solve similar problems:

I followed all the tips here and on other sites to no avail. This AM, I finally found the problem: I had to update the flash/activeX plugins for Internet Explorer and then it worked.

I'm a Firefox user, and things were working fine until one day, mysteriously, I started to get this "Please install Flash Player 9 and ActiveX" message when we tried to launch the Easy Link software. I had Flash Player 10 on my PC, but I followed peoples' suggestions and tried uninstalling, reinstalling, updating the browser plugins, etc. Nothing worked.

Then, thinking that ActiveX is something that helps a browser run content on a web page, I wondered if the missing ActiveX component that Easy Link was complaining about wasn't browser-specific. So I closed Firefox and Started Internet Explorer, updated the Flash Player from Adobe's website through that browser and Easy Link started working right away.

I suspect that at some point Vista did a software update (as it sometimes does) that included a new version of Internet Explorer. That version probably wasn't updated to the latest Flash plugin and started causing the problem with the Easy Link software. I didn't notice it of course because I don't use Internet Explorer. If anyone is still having the problem, I recommend opening Explorer, going to and clicking the button that says "Get Adobe Flash Player". Worked for me (finally).

DVD burn with DVD X-copy not completing finalizing mode

"Is this what is causing the "finalizing" to not complete the burn?" ... Almost certainly yes. You need to update/reinitialize your Patin Couffin engine device drivers(s).

  1. Download the stand-alone installation package.
  2. After download is complete, close all other applications, then run it.
  3. Restart (reboot) your system.
  4. Test by re-performing the same procedure(s) which previously failed and generated the error dialog (pop-up).
