Question about Panasonic PT-AE900U Multimedia Projector

Panasonic PTAE900 red vertical lines have appeared constantly

Basically im not very technical when it comes to opening up electrical equipment. Need to send my projector to Panasonic to get this problem fixed but they cant tell me how much it will cost until they open it up. Problem is i have to pay them £75 + vat for this to happen. I already need a new bulb and weighing it up i might aswell buy the newer 200e (which i really cant afford).

Has anybody had this problem fixed by panasonic and if so how much did it cost???

Actually you have admitted that you are not handy with electrical equipment and the problem with your projector involves a little bit of soldering and a little knowledge regarding the internal layout of the components like IC's, heatsinks, etc. So I would advice you to send the projector to panasonic telling them specifically the area they need to fix, which is, to check the green & red IC's to identify whch pins have overheated and the solder has melted, causing a short. Also ask them to add spme extra aluminium to the heat sink(green & RED Ic's since they have a common heat sink). So you have to pay the service charge only since you are informing then where the problem is & its rectification. I think in this fashion you might get away by paying 75 pounds only which u have to part with if you want this item repaired, and fact is that it can be rectified, as stated above, making it the most cost effective solution.........................................sodeep

How to fix mirrors on NEC NP400 projector?

Hello there,

I know this problem all too well so my answer may be what you (and others) are looking for in the following thread:

Basically what happens is a prism in the projector has become dislodged due to the cheap adhesive they use and the extreme heat it's subjected to. Some JB-Weld Steel Reinforced Epoxy will fix it right up. Just read my instructions in the above link.

HI There, I have just bought a viewsonic pj559d from ebay. Refurbished working with no lamp. I bought a 'JP-UK Genuine Alternative Viewsonic RLC-036-JP Projector Lamp for PJ559D Projector ' and...

A 'genuine ALTERNATIVE', is not a genuine Viewsonic part, but that is unlikely to be the problem. Two choices, take it for professional repair, or send it back to the seller as not working as advertised.

I can't project my image from my laptop to the projector..

A usb cable will not work that way--on your projector, it's used for need to obtain a monitor cable which will plug into the vga connector on the laptop and into the connector on the projector (rgb in 1) or (rgb in 2) If you use the #2 rgb input, make sure the button IS NOT pushed in! If it is, the projector will be switched to OUTPUT mode on the #2 connector. Also, on the laptop, normal operation is "laptop only"...when you push the <alt F4> buttons, it should then switch to "laptop + external display(projector)", another <alt F4> push will give "external display only" mode. Then, another push will return you back to "laptop only". NOTE: Sometimes, you have to turn on the projector first, then immediately turn on the laptop--not to get technical but different equipment can get finicky about syncing up...just something to be aware of...

Stiff Pitch Adjustment

What did you open up? The top of what? If you could be specific, I can direct you.

If your pitch is stiff, try spraying some contact cleaner or similar - DO NOT USE WD40. Use an electrical contact cleaning solution, such as CAIG DEOXIT or CAIG FADERLUBE both work very well, and are good for electronic contacts.

If this does not work, then maybe the pitch control knob/shaft is slightly bent? Any physical damage?

Other than that, there isn't a whole lot you can do, unless you replace the pitch control - Technics Pitch Control.
