On the power supply board I replaced CAP C226 as per another poster and the problem is solved. It is a 470 uF, 35 VDC capacitor. Bought one at Radio Shack for <$1.50 USD. Radio Shack part number is: 272.1030.

Common problem with Liteons as well. Traced to a defective mobo that doesn't detect the drive. Only solution thus far has been to replace mobo. What part is causing the problem is unknown....

What happens when capacitor goes bad on flat screen?

It depends on which section of the circuits the caps are in, in the power supply section for the logic and the backlight inverter circuits, you will get unstabel DC voltages, blinking indicator light, no backligts, etc.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for:
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Or just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current, long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.

Its on stand by but wont start up

In that case or problem of you television,the cause is the deffective power supply.The power supply is dead or has a low voltage output.The cause of that problem of power supply is the deffective capacitor.The capacitor is totally leak and cannot filter the voltage.The leak capacitor can cause of volatge drop.So if you want to repair the power supply,try to pull out the power supply to the cassing and remove the cover to see the leak capacitor.You can identify the leak capacitor through visual checking,if you don't know how to use the capacitor tester.If the capacitor have rounded shape at the top and have some moise,that a leak capacitor compare to flated top shape of the good capacitor.Replace all leak capacitor with new and same value for example.330mf/35v.Avoid short circuit at the PCB board of the power supply.Try my suggestion or procedure.Hope it will help you.Thanks..

On / off indicater light keeps flashing red/green and tv will not power on lg du-37lz30

Common problems for most LCD and Plasma tvs sets.The tv power supply board it is the causes and problems,that the board where the tv a/c power cord plug into it.Take the tv aparts and check tv power supply board carefully looking for dying an leaking components capacitors parts.These dying and leaking capacitors parts are alway bulges up onto it tops or puffing up onto it tops.U have all the tools and understanding basic electronic also can do basic soldering work too?Yes.All these dying and leaking components capacitors parts are bulges up or puffng up onto it tops u must have to replace them.Replaces all these dying and leaking capacitors components parts with the same Miro Farad but upgraded all those capacitors parts voltages higher voltages like 5 or 10 voltages higher than those old capacitors components parts u are replacing.By replacing all those old dying and leakages capacitors parts voltages higher 5 or 10 voltages higher.The capacitors parts will with stand heat better than those old capacitors parts was in the power supply board earlier.Or tries websites like, to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Power comes on for two seconds then goes off. Trouble code is 21. Is this worth fixing?

The X-Ray Protect circuit monitors:
* Excessive High Voltage
* Excess CRT Beam Current
* Excess HV Circuit Current

The X-Ray line is normally High. If any of the monitored sources exceeds its' specific reference, the X-Ray line is pulled Low, shutting Off the TV. If X-Ray protect shuts the TV Off, pressing the Power button will turn the TV back On ( it will shut Off again if the problem still exist).

Possible Problems: Power Supply Fault, Sweep Circuit Problem, Doubler Board Fault or a leaking CRT. You may have bad capacitors in the power supply or the sweep power supply.

Check for CRT leaking, few drops of clear light oil. If this is leaking the fix is costly and not worth fixing.
Inspect for puffy capacitors on the power supply and sweep circuit boards, if you can solder replacing capacitors is cheap, middle pricing for replacing power supply or circuit boards.

Error Code 2-2. (Low Voltage Supply) What now?

That is a power supply issue and this requires a skilled person to do it.Trouble shooting in this kind of problem includes voltage measurement and resistance reading of the components/parts inside the high voltage section This is not a DIY problem but if you still want to do it yourself then I can give you some guide that you can try.
1.Check the power supply board,this board is where the power cord is connected.The common problem on this circuit are the filter capacitors .A leak and shorted capacitors always cause that kind of problem the worse is dead set.To visually identify a defective capacitor is their appearance they look to be bulging on top blown,theirs a liquid leak on the body.replace the defective capacitor if you found any.with the same rating and value..
2.Resistors -change value resistors and open resistance can cause the same problem this resistors usually near the regulator transistor.They appears as burned and overheated replace it with the same rating there is an available color code calculator of resistor in the internet click this link and key in the color of the resistor to get the value..

3. check the voltage regulator transistor if it is shorted .the first pin and second pin must not have a reverse reading..

4.Check also the two big IC marked with STK xxxx this IC are the convergence IC it controls the horizontal pin of picture..when this IC are defective this will shut down the power supply ..

The steps I mentioned must be done with a skilled personnel If you feel you can do it,well you can try or better yet bring it to the service center or call a service this link for service center
good luck hope this helps!

When we print manually the whole page comes out completly black.

Try replacing the toner cartridge first, then proceed with the other items.
Thank you and let me know what happens:
Binary Bob

How common*

DC Controller PCA is defective. If the DC Controller turns on the laser beam continuously,
the entire surface of the Photosensitive drum is neutralized causing a completely black page
Replace the DC Controller PCA

Defective toner cartridge
Replace the toner cartridge

High voltage contact springs are dirty or defective. The high voltage contacts are mounted on
the High Voltage Power Supply PCA and protrude into the toner cartridge cavity
Inspect and clean the high voltage contacts. If damaged, replace the High Voltage Power Supply PCA.

High voltage power supply circuit is defective (not supplying the correct negative voltage)
Replace the High Voltage Power Supply PCA
some printers have the high voltage power supply on the DC controller.

Laser/Scanner Assembly is faulty (turning laser on continuously)
Replace the Laser/Scanner Assembly

Light is leaking into the printer
Make sure that all covers are in place
possible, but not likely

Capacitors??? WOMAN NEEDS HELP PLEASE!!!???

The term: "it has no power" is not specific enough. If the actual led indicator light on the front of the monitor lights up with a green color, then goes out or starts flashing, then maybe, perhaps the problem with the monitor is that the high voltage power supply for the screen backlights is not working. The common components that fail are the capacitors on the high voltage power supply board. If the capacitors are swollen or leaking, they are probably bad. You must replace a capacitor with the exact size of capacitance. You cannot replace with a "stronger" capacitor. You can replace with a higher temperature rated capacitor, if the capacitor will fit in the alloted space on the circuit board and in the case.

Pc no start.........

You might have a bad power supply. If you have a voltmeter, check the voltage of the standby power supply. This voltage is present even if the system is off, plugged in. It powers a small portion of the logic circuit. It should measure within a couple of tenths of exactly +5 volts. If it is low, or high, this will prevent turn-on. The purple wire of the 24 pin connector is what carries this to the motherboard. The color coding layout is found at If by chance this voltage is OK, then check the full on voltages also. Repair of the defective supply is probably by replacement of one or more small electrolytic capacitors in the appropriate circuit, especially if you are technically savvy. Capacitors are available through several suppliers; Digi-Key supplyies Panasonic FC series which are suitable for switching power supplies. Or, you may just replace the whole unit.
