SOURCE: Dehumidifier does not collect water.

If your dehumidifier doesn't seem to run often but the humidity in the room is high, try adjusting the humidistat control on the dehumidifier to a dryer setting. If the dehumidifier seems to run constantly, but there's little or no water in the container, there may be a problem in the refrigeration system. Try cleaning the unit. If that doesn't work, you can't repair the refrigeration system yourself, you need a qualified appliance repair technician to do that.

Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

P.S. - If you find that the solution/answer I provided led you to, or resulted in a fix, please close the ticket with a FixYa! rating. I would be very grateful for your show of appreciation.

SOURCE: kenmore dehumidifier is running but not pulling water

normally this means that the compressor is not running. Check capacitor and connections to compressor.

Normal 0 When you push the power button, the blower fan comes on. In a few minutes you should hear a second "click"--that is your compressor starting. Do you hear that second click?

SOURCE: What setting should I set my dehumidifier for %

THE LOWER THE % SETTING, THE MORE MOISTURE THE DEHUMIDIFIER WILL REMOVE!!!
I have a Provic dehumidifier mainly to remove damp from walls in my 1900s terraced house ( 3rd DPC failed, another on its way). I've read a lot about the technical side and all I wanted to know was 'do i set it on the highest or lowest % to extract moisture from the walls'. I rang the Managing Director at Provic (his contact details are given on their website) who was very helpful. He advised that the lower the setting, the more damp would be removed from the walls and therefore the air, as the water passes from the wall into the air. My DH ranges from 40% to 70% so he advised me to set it at 40% in the worst affected room to remove as much moisture as possible from the walls. As the moisture is removed, the DH will collect less water and set itself to the correct level anyway. He advised me that when as much water as possible has been removed from this room and the DH % will not drop any lower, to move it to a more central position in the house, such as the hallway to then start setting the rest of the house to the correct humidity level. I set the DH to 40% and left it on overnight closing all doors to the affected room and removing containers of water such as a vase of flowers. When I got up in the morning it had switched itself off as it had already collected 3 litres of water! You do have to be careful not to over dry the air as everything, furniture and electricals, naturally needs moisture, but for a short term, quick drying solution, this level is ok.
Hope this helps!

Dehumidifier lights up comes on will only run for a few minutes does not collect any water

You probably have it set for too high (moist) a setting, so it doesn't need to run long.

Slowly reduce setting to Drier settings to get it to run longer.

Dehumidifier bucket light blinks. Fan comes on for one second and then stops and bucket light keeps blinking. Hose is used to dehumidify. Unplugged for five days and this started when it was plugged in...

The hose or the hose connection and internal tubing may be clogged. To solve this problem, turn the unit OFF & unplug it.

The hose is easy to check, by disconnecting it and blowing thru it. If it checks out OK, then the clog is in the hose connection on the unit or it's internal tubing.

Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the hole and tubing. Continue to push it in until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly pull the Zip Tie back out while rotating (twisting) it. This will breakup any clogs. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared, as some water may follow. Reconnect the hose, plug the unit in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extraction level to 35% or Maximum if you have a manually controlled unit. Allow the unit to run, while you monitor the hose for water flow.

NOTE: If you don't have a Zip Tie, you may use something similar ( i.e.a long pipe cleaner), but NO wire coat hangers
.

Hope this helped you & thanks for choosing FixYa.

My Kenmore dehumidifier has stopped drawing water from the air to the collection receptical. Fan still runs at high and low speeds.

A couple of things may be happening: The humidity extraction level may be set to high and it can't extract any humidity at that level. Reset/Lower it to 35%. The fans on most dehumidifiers run almost constantly (designed that way) so that it keeps moving the air around. If the sensor picks up a higher humidity level than what it's set to maintain, the compressor will turn ON. This is particularly true, if you operate the unit in continual mode, rather than a timed mode. Also, a dirty or clogged air intake filter, hinders the units ability to remove humidity/moisture.

In addition, operating the unit is ambient air temperature of between 40 & 60 degrees F, causes the unit to struggle to dehumidify the air and the fan to run continuously. Obstructing the air flow around the unit, will also cause it to not function as it should. Maintain a minimum of 12" of free air space around all 4 sides of the unit.

Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know.

The water does not run down into the collection bucket. it somehow stays near the top and if i tip the dehumidifier forward, water runs out near or around the air filter area.

Hi,
Take the bucket out and look up at the top...it is hard to find, but there is a small tab that goes over the hole where the water runs out...pull the tab down and clean out the hole, it is full of dust and/or lint...take a peice of wire or a very small screw driver and clean the hole out and you'll be good to go...
