Question about Hayden Industries SuperVac 2400 Central System Vacuum
I have a hayden central vacumn ''superpack deluxe''--it makes a rattling noise when I use the beater bar--vacumns fine. Also some how the little red reset button on the top disappeared, I don't know if it is in the machine. Any help would be appreciated. Julie
My machine does not have a series number on it so I picked the 2400 in order to post my question.
The rattling noise, will likely increase when the head is flipped upside down. Generally means you have a stone caught in the belt or a blown or stripped tooth on the belt.
If you gently squeeze the outside edges of the light housing it will pop off to reveal two screws to remove the lid. Check for other screws at the neck of the power head. Once removed your belt and brush will be visible. Remove the brush roll with end caps and flip the belt inside out rolling it between your finger , look for cracks or a floppy or missing tooth. Replace if any sign of wear.
Inspect the dust caps on your brush. There is a washer under each, likely buried in lint. Do not lose as these are a spacers for each end of the brush. Clean shaft and lube with WD40. Spray caps with the same. vacuum loose grit and dust bunnies away from motor and reinstall, your red button must align with the lid when replacing

It is not recommended to change that bag. The best thing to do would be to borrow a shop vac from someone and vacuum it off really good. The bags sell for about $60.00 and they are a big pain to change out. The other thing you can do to help the odor is look into exhausting the unit outside. All manufacturers recommend it.

SOURCE: Brush will not turn
The most common problem is the handle isn't screwed in tight enough when the machine was assembled. Try tightening it down all the was and the electrical connections will then seat properly.

Actually Hayden uses Panasonic to make all of their power nozzles. Replacing the belt on your Hayden is the identical process to replacing the belt on Panasonic canisters. Kenmore canisters also use Panasonic power nozzles, it's the same process with these.
There is also a power nozzle overload switch on the top of the power nozzle that will shut down if anything is vacuumed up that causes stress on the belt. Try pushing this reset switch before opening up the power nozzle to install a belt. It may be something as simple as a reset switch.
If this doesn't work, here's a link to a repair that I've posted on Fixya on how to replace the belt on a Kenmore canister power nozzle, the process will be identical to your Hayden power nozzle.
Hopefully this helped you. Please be so kind and rate the repair, or leave feedback for the fixya community.
