Question about Optoma EP716 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

My Optoma EP716 projector will not power up; no warning lights at all. The lamp has less than 750 hours on it. Tried different AC cable but nothing. Took it down (ceiling mount), still nothing. Please advise!

Check the voltage at the lamp input from the ballast after connecting projector to mains supply. (Warning: Do not switch on the projector while checking the voltage. It will damage your multimeter) The lamp connection shall be removed. If the voltage is around 60 to 80 volts AC, then your ballast is OK. Check for fragments inside the lamp.

either the lamp has/is going to expire, or the ballast is bad. if the lamp has bulges or black spots on the inside, replace the lamp and clean out your projector with canned air. too much dust keeps in the heat and makes a 2000 hour lamp go in 1100 hours.

Optoma ep716 was making a clicking sound and now doesn't turn on... Any ideas?

Clicking is probably the lamp trying to start - it uses an electric arc to get going. Kind of like gas stoves using spark to ignite the gas. Odds are that the lamp is dead. If there are any indicator lights, and you describe them, we may be able to confirm (or disprove). 1ak+f4pj7cbm32cuniyi2gaaaaaelftksuqmcc

Optoma EP716 turns on but no picture displays

Don't ever just unplug the power cord while it is on. The bulb needs to cool down with the fan still on.
Did you ever connect a source?

Optoma EP716 source detection

It sounds like your module that controls the menu and the "cycling through" may not be in sync or may needs to be replaced. I had times have had to make sure the Optoma EP716 had to be first plugged in and "on" before the PC can communicate with it. Once the Optoma is "ON", then turn your PC/Notebook on. If there is no connection via USB, "S" cable and/or your VGA (be sure your PC/Notebook is set to have the external VGA "active"). Let me know if this works or not. Then we can try to move forward with other options for troubleshooting. BTW...how long have you had this multimedia and how many hours of use does it have?...JGUAM
