It could be many things. Check the lint filter first. You might try checking under the drum where the blower assembly is at for excessive lint build up, check for air gaps in the drum chamber where air can get through. Check the fins of the blower wheel. This blower pulls the air through the drum from the element. The heating element my be burned out or the thermocouple (Temp Sensor) or the circuitry has malfunctioned, the microprocessor firmware has a "bug", Is the dryer on "Fluff" or no heat setting? Make sure it is set on Auto Dry or Permanent Press. Still no heat? If you are handy at disassembly/reassembly then you could check the resistance of the heating element disconnected from the leads. It should read between 10 and 15 ohms. The pre-heat thermistor may be open as well. Unless you are experienced in testing live systems I would take it to your friend who does this stuff for fun or a living. Please check the lint factor, the settings, and then the elemnt. Post again with your findings and we will work from there. Good luck to you!

The problem is most likely a blown thermal fuse or a bad heating element. The thermal fuse should be attached to the duct just inside the back panel. It is about an inch long. The thermal fuse and the heating element should have continuity, therefore they are simple to test with an ohm meter or multimeter. If either component does not have continuity, then that component will need to be replaced. Hope this helped, and good luck.

Dries very slow lint is clean have to run and run to dry

make sure the outlet tubes are also clean, also rinse off the lint screen with hot water, softener will clog it and not allow propper air flow, the water wil bead up on the screen if this is true, just keep rinsing till water flows freely

I have a kenmore elite drier and i need to know how to change the heat eliment.

it would depend on the year of the dryer.. most of the elite models.. the element is at the bottom of the dryer. remove lower pane. and it wil be there.. be sure to unplug the dryer first.. the wires down there carry 240v.
it it removed rater easely, unplug all wires, and remove the screw holding the assembly in.. (it wil b eat the front underneath the element.) slde it out.. and voila

Dryer wil not run, buzzer does not buzz?

If it is whirlpool--Make sure it has power. Then:Check the door switch. A little lever sticking down through top rightof door opening. If it is not there you will need new doorswitch(sometimes the little lever breaks off). If it is there and doesnot click when you press it in you need a new door switch. if it clicksand clicks when you close the door then you have a bad thermal fuse. The thermal fuse is found by taking the back of the dryer off. The fuseis an oblong white plastic piece with 2 wires attached.

Door switch part number 3406109
Thermal fuse part number 3392519

The motor is faulty. Either the relay contacts are stuck or there is a shorted winding. Best to replace the motor.

My dryer is giving off a strong odor. Smells a little like rubber or metal on metal. It still works great. Is still getting hot and drying clothes. Can you help?

A few things could be going on here. If you are hearing metal on metal sound I would start with the blower wheel itself. Sounds like it either came loose from the motor shaft or it's broke. Other things could be a bad drum roller that has frozen up causing the rubber smell. Your idler pulley could be frozen up and the belt is slipping on the drum. Go to this link http://www3.sears.com/ and post your model number to get a breakdown of your dryer. It wil show the areas I mentioned. Catriver..post back.
