Zenith A27A11D Power Problem

I have an older Zenith 27" Model# A27A11D power just kicked off one day while watching. I open the back and noticed the Cap labeled CX3231 is burnt. Could this be the only problem? Where can I purchase a replacement? Nothing else seems visibly bad and tube had been replaced while still under warranty. Any help please, thank you.

I sorry to say I think you have a component failing that is related to heat. 15 years is a long time and if the TV was used in hpot conditions over the years it may well be the proble, or it's just old.

Video noise at bottom of screen

Try adjusting the tracking on your VCR. This symptom would typically be caused by a slight tracking error in your VCR or video heads that need to be cleaned. Your Zenith TV may be a little more sensitive to video synchronization problems than your other TV is.

If VCR tracking adjustments have no effect on the symptom, then the problem could be in the TV, but I'll need more details to assist you with troubleshooting. For example, how do you connect the VCR to the TV?

Tv help!

When you have the back off, look for the flyback (high voltage) transformer. This is the part that has the thick red wire protruding from its top which attaches to the top of the picture tube with a suction cup. On the flyback there are 2 controls, the bottom one is screen and the top one is focus. Turn the bottom control (screen) down (counterclockwise) until the white lines go away and the brightness looks normal. Then turn the top control (focus) until the picture is nice and sharp. If the F connector has been pulled out and the TV has RCA (red, white, yellow) jacks, use those jacks and set the TV to INPUT.

If you state that the contacts of the Mains Plug were 'burnt', I suggest that you once clean them with Emery Paper and try again. Loose contact in the Mains causes the 'burning', and the Plug contacts become carbonised. Could be other reasons also, but just try this first.
