Treo 650 Problem

When powering up the phone it loads the Palm software, but thereafter
does not flip over to the telephone functions. It continues in a loop with
the powering-up process.

I'm having the exact same problem but wasn't loading any new software. it's been in a loop all afternoon. I took out the battery for 4 hours and put it back in, still looping. Feel like running over it.

I have the same problem. I took the battery and the sim card overnight. I haven't done anything different to the phone, neither have I tried to download any software. I tried using the reset button, but it continues to restart itself over and over, constantly. I doesn't do anything else but shutdown and restart, non- stop. I have to take the battery out to make it stop. Do you have any additional suggestions, because I tried the solution you posted, and it doesn't work.

You have to do a "Hard Reset" on your Palm:
Keep pushing the red button of your palm, then press the reset button and keep pressing the red button until the "Palm rounded by a circle" screen appear, then stop pushing it, select "yes" and the problem is Fixed. The fact is that your palm will get into the default state, as the first time.

Probably dodgy software conflict. Try taking battery out and leaving for anhour or two then take out sim carrier. Put battery back and see if it starts properly. If not looping put sim in and try to switch phone on. if this works then there is a problem with software you have loaded so switch off back up before you sync. Then once you have synched the phone add back applications one at a time until you find the one that causes the problem. Of course you have to do it all over again once you have found the culprit!

Another cause, if you have attempted to upgrade the firmware, is a failure of the upgrade process. if you can't get this to work I am afraid the phone is bricked and needs to go back to Palm for repair.

HOW TO PERFORM A HARD RESET ON Treo 650

Performing a hard reset on a Treo 650will erase everything on the smartphone. Most people do this because of trouble with the Treo 650's software. There are several key stages to performing a hard reset. Follow these steps to learn how to do it properly.

HotSync the Treo 650 to your computer to ensure that you have all of your information backed up. You will lose everything on your Treo 650 with a hard reset.
Step 2 Press and hold down the red phone key on the right side of the Treo 650 keyboard until the Palm screen appears. This will begin the hard reset.
Step 3 Let go of the red phone button when you see the Palm screen.
Step 4 Read the screen prompt carefully. It will ask you to press the up arrow key to proceed with the hard reset or the down arrow key to abort. Press the up arrow to continue with the hard reset.
Step 5 Wait for the phone to reboot. When it comes back on, it will ask you to select a language and walk you through the same introductory screens you saw when you first got the phone.
Step 6 HotSync your Treo 650 to your computer. When prompted, select your old username to restore all of your contacts and information. This should complete the hard reset process.

How do I export contacts from a Palm 650?

First thing what is your new phone you using now?
If still the same palm operating system,what you need to do is just 1.export your contact from your palm desktop.After that you create a new ac for your palm desktop then import the file you export just now to the palm desktop again.If you are using windows mobile repeat the number 1.then go to your active sync user ac and import from the file you export just now.

BACK UP your Treo 650 software and data BEFORE doing the following.

1. RESET the Treo 650 back to default set by holding power buttom following by reset the treo.

2. There is a way to reset the voltage regulator in the Treo ; believe is by holding the RESET for > 3 seconds. Believe need to take out the battery in out during this process. Can't recalled the correct steps. This could could reset the Treo's power regulator.

3. TRY reinstall your palm software with minimun software or 3rd parties one, this software could be running in the back ground which drain the battery.

Try above steps might help.

Mine also got the same problem last two weeks, my treo could felt there is kind warm sensation if it took out from my waist pouch after leaving it for sometime on the table. BTW, the battery could felt quite warm also.

If yours also behave the same which I believed the Treo got some kind of contact problem which draw more power then usually does.

Now, mine got no more warm sensetion after carry out above steps. It gets better as Compared to last two weeks ago BUT not that good as compared previously when it can last 3~4 days after a full charge.
