The increase and lowring of volume is most likely a parameter set in the electronic controls of the car. Most settings can be changed at your dealer with software they use to hook up with the car.Although most settings can be changed it cost you since it is not a warrantable item but rather a desired item. I know for a fact dealers can change settings for auto door locks , which auto lock when vehicle reaches 5 mph. The volume control for your sound system works off of vehicle speed as well and should be a changable setting. You will have to conctact your dealer and see the auto volume control is a feature they can dissable.

My 2001 VW Beetle started losing speed when I go up a hill, and when I try to excellerate, it bogs down worse and the check engine light flashes off and on.

you sound like your catylitic converter is trying to stop up. When this happens check and have someone race the engine and fill and see if you have a good flow of exhaust coming out of your tail pipe and see if it is real hot .A good way is if it happens at night look at yourn converter and see if its red from the converter to the engine thats a sure sign thats your converter is stopped up.If its not then if the light stays on go to an advance store or some other place and they wont charge you to check and tell you what the obd 2 code is and post that back and let me know what the code is .Hope This Helps

My 2001 VW beetle makes a 'card in bicyle spoke' sound when I accelerate. I put the car in neutral and gave it gas to see if it still did it and it did. The noise gets faster with the increase in speed....

could be a lot of things ( if it sounds like ticking
lifters could be the alternator bearings or the belt could be cracked ) if you remove the belt and turn all the pullys you can rule out what it is not also check that belt of all else seems to be ok with the belt off
start the car and see if you still can here the noise if so it is in the engine in most cases (check oil )
if you still arn't sure have it checked

99vw beetle gets really loud past 40mph, like a

Sounds like something is caught up inside or outside the engine/transmission where a part is grinding from something reciprocating. Does the sound happen when you apply the gas without the car moving? If the sound only happens while moving then it could be suspension or transmission related. If it only happens with or without the car moving as long as you control the gas then it's probably in the engine or transmission related. Could also be a wheel bearing issue, that will be a humming sound inside the cabin. As you speed up the pitch increases and the opposite happens when you slow down.

Dash noise from VW Beetle

Must be a bad front wheel bearing. Does the pitch change as you speed up and slow down?
