Computer was recently updated to Windows 7 and now if I try to scan something I get the following message ... "Refer to device documentation to troubleshoot." I've tried re-instaling w/disc...

Make sure you go to Hp's website and download the drivers for windows 7 support. Also when installing HP printers make sure the printer is not attached to the computer while driver installation is preforming. Only attach the printer to the compter after the driver is installed and the system reboots.

Pc asking for system disk but i have no was working fine until i changed the dvd rom

Any new Hardware install you need to setup, with some, sys drivers are installed, so auto install takes place.

Guessing, your "Poota" fails to find new drive prog, so it is asking for the setup disc to the dvd drive?

Go too DVD drive company, look for update driver download.

Do you have the dvd prog dvd/CD ??

I just tried to scan with my Lexmark X1270 that worked fine the other day now it says AIOC exe has encountered a problem what has happened t change how it works

You need to update the driver for your printer. Using your install disc, just follow the normal install process which will work as an "Update Driver".

If you do not have your original disc, follow the steps below:
  1. Make sure you have the regular printer driver installed. If you don't, you can grab it from the Lexmark website and install it.
  2. Next, keep your USB cords plugged in but turn your printer off.
  3. Download the All-In-One Center Software here.
  4. Unpack the archive, open the "Applications" folder, and double-click Setup. This will install the application - it can take a bit.
  5. Once the application is installed, turn the printer on and try a test scan. If it works, you're good and can quit reading.
  6. If you get an error when running a test scan, don't panic. Reinstall the regular printer driver, using the "Update Driver" option that appears.
  7. Restart your computer.
  8. Do a new test scan. This should bring up the All In One Center's loading screen, which will start searching for programs (this can reallllly take a while). When it's done, everything will be working beautifully again!

I have a hp4135 printer/scanner/copier. i've about had it w/hp. it will not stop coming onto my computer to install. i think the install disc is defectiveas it will not install the scanner part. it goes to...

First, download the install here, if you do have a defective CD there is no point wasting time with it. Next, uninstall everything that the software setup and remove the printer from the printer window. Make sure that you are a local administrator.

Remove the printer from the computer and reattach it in another USB port you haven't used for this printer yet then cancel the Windows Hardware Wizard when it tries to run. Run the installer and do the Next, next, next thing. If it lags out on your on step 4, just wait a bit. If you get nothing after 7 minutes or so force quit the installer and use Add Remove Hardware and the extracted inf file left by the installer.

Finally, The HP auto update software sucks. It nags and needs administrative privileges to run. Since it is completely unnecessary to the printer running remove it from the start up folder.

My photosmart 7762 will not print from the internet

The internet provider should not have anything to do with this. If by chance they installed some software when you switched, try uninstalling it and then try printing. It does sound like a driver issue though and i would have asked you to reinstall the driver. If by chance this happened after updating to a newer driver for your printer, try an older one off of the disc that came with your computer. Good luck!
