When turned off the fans continue to run to cool down and exhaust fumes --turns off when firebox reaches a set temperature

Testimonial: "I understand that it is supposed to do that, but the 2nd fan never shut off. The first fan shuts off in about 5 minutes, but the second one will not turn off and will blow cold air all day if I do not unplug it."

2001 Warnock Hersey 25-PAF not working!

Even though it is 20 years old it is well supported by the company which is good to see! Problems with pellets stoves are pretty simple to fix, the most comon problem is the fire pot igniter, the auger motor or the fan. Diagnose though, don't just blindly replace items. It is well worth repairing and they fetch good prices secondhand. The links below you should help. The one has troubleshooting ideas.

What are the pros and cons of operating the Quadrafire Mt Vernon AE pellet stove in manual mode?

They probably cannot suggest running it on 'manual' due to liability reasons....leaving home for an extended time and forgetting its on manual...comes to mind.

What may be suggested is to make sure ANY and ALL safety controls still function to shut off fuel (pellet) flow in the manual mode as an extended overtemp condition is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of damage to a heating system or to the structure within which it is installed.

I think its a judgement call on your part once you determine you pretty well KNOW the full and complete operation of the device. The key to that statement is KNOWING WITHOUT A DOUBT the FULL operation of the system.

I also would NEVER recommend to a customer to operate it in the manual position.

We have a pellet stove -seems to be working ok except that we have a smell of smoke like that of having a fireplace. We think everything is sealed correctly. Any suggestions?

From what I have read on these things, never had one, but they have 2 fans, maybe one, plus an auger and thermostat. The one fan would **** fresh air in from the room to fuel the fire, while the other fan would blow the heat back out from a sealed area. The auger spins constantly, slow, dropping pellets on the fire determined by the thermostat. If this is right and relates to your stove, I can see where the smell of smoke would come from. The second fan is pulling in smoke from the fire. Check the gaskets in that area. I was wondering if it wasn't just the new stove smell you were getting?

Not blowing cold air

unplugged the unit, kept the doors closed about 10 to 12 hours plugged back in and in about 2 hours started blowing cold air into freezer another 4 hours was blowing cold air into refrigerator and continuily got back to the themostat settings, about 1 day. no food was lost because the doors were closed still keeping it cold. i think the fan in the freezer was frozen with ice,but could access it, not the main fan in the back the unit by the compressor, that was running fine. so basically i defrosted the freezer fan by unplugging it. this is the 2nd time in 4 years ive done this, well it beats spending 1000-1500 dollars to replace it TRY IT I HOPE IT WORKS FOR YOU BEFORE YOU CALL FOR SERVICE,dave

Pellet stove

The buzzing is possibly your exhaust/combustion blower. This blower is the fan sound you hear as the stove starts up. If you ARE hearing a NORMAL fan sound, then the buzzing could be the auger motor. Do you have a Foxfire with an igniter? This tells me the series of model you have and what control system it uses.
