Question about Whirlpool RF378LXKS Electric Kitchen Range

1 Answer

This has to be the worst stove I ever purchased

First, the large front left burner stopped woking. When I try to turn the knob it doesn't turn so the burner will not go on. Now the second largest burner on the front right alos has the same problem. I cannot turn the knob, and the burner will not go on.

So the only two burners that are working are the two small rear burners.

Yes, I puchased the stove new, unforunately it is now out of the warranty period. The large front burner stopped working about 9 moths ago. The second burner front right stopped working a few days ago. So I am left with the two smallest burners in the rear.

What you said implies that you bought this new, how long ago, could it still have warranty?

Sorry for the delay, system e-mail is not working so we don't get notice of replies. Did the knob/control get stiff over time, or just suddenly freeze up? If it got stiff over time, maybe a little shot of WD-40 would free it up. If it happened suddenly, then the controls have melted down, lubricant will not fix that.
You could check to see what new controls would cost to replace, or if you're really disgusted with it, see what your dealer will allow for trade-in.

I have a kenmore stove model number 790,72403012 and 3 of the 4 burners are working. They all are getting a spark, but the front left won't fire up.

First, try to light the burner in question with a match. Just hold a match to the burner, then turn the gas on to low. If the burner doesn`t light, the problem is the gas supply to the burner. Next, lift the top cover and put the prop rod in the hole in the cover to support it. Hold a match to the left-front burner. Now, turn the control knob to "light". You should see the igniter spark and hear a snap. If this doesn`t happen, repeat this step with the left rear burner. If you hear the spark and snap.
If the igniter doesn`t work on the front left burner, but does on the rear left burner, the igniter does work. The problem is likely the control knob for the left front burner. The. Control knob includes the electrical switch the activates the igniter when you turn on that burner.

Sears Kenmore gas stove, the front left and the left and right rear burners turn on when the knob is turned to the lite position. The right front burner doesn't turn on when put lite position. N

If there is no clicking sound like you hear when you turn on the other burners than I'm going to say that either the electrode is bad or the spark switch, which is what you turn to turn on the burner to begin with. Both parts are cheap so it may be a good maintenance thing to change all of the burners. Make sure you have your model and go to www.repairclinic.com and order both parts, and if you don't need one send it back for a full refund even if you installed it. good luck

Since you are having problems with multiple elements the problem is probably the circuit board that controls them. This can be ordered and replaced. Be sure to unplug the stove before getting into the circuit board though.

Kenmore glass top range left front large burner out

check the burner socket, it is likely that contact is being lost where the burner connects to the hardwired portion of the system (the socket). It is not unusual for the socket to "burn up" when there is a poor connection to the burner resulting in the burner being replaced and the new burner not working or working intermittently.

Front Right Large Burner Wouldn't Boil, Now won't heat at all

The burner has a short now. The burner is a resistor and when it is shorted the burner will not heat to its full capability. You should be able to replace the burner element. Home Depot or Lowes may have the part you need or you can most likely get them from Amazon. They have everything.

Burner on range will not turn off

Look at the back of your range there should be schemetic for your power control board. look for defective burner wire going into relay. There should be 5 relays in rows. Realy is the problem. I had the same problem with my front left burner stuck on high.
After replacing everything works okay.

Burner will not turn off

I would first check the infinite control switch (#WB24T10029) the part the knob slips onto. The next thing I'd check is the erc (#WB27T10231) control board. Hope that is helpful!
