Try putting oil or wd40 dow the tube and make sure there isnt a lockout button for riding uphills?

The suspension on the front drivers side has a lot of free movement and play in it what could the problem be and would it take long to fix


if their is play & lot of free moment in suspension then it is time to do front suspension work for both side it is better you do front both side suspension work because one on the other if you are finding problem in one side of vehicle then obviously the other side is also got be getting weak you better do both side suspension work at the same time so that the both side are equally balance for better working of suspension on both side the suspension work takes a one full day time around 8 to 10. hrs. is enough for such work to be completed but it also depend on the availability of spare & parts for a trouble free drive do visit your nearest authorized Daewoo motors or GM motors service station

Suspension The independent front suspension (IFS) system is composed of a two-piece front driving axle, two front coil springs (5310) and two radius arms. The front driving axle consists of two independent axle arms. One end of each axle arm is anchored to the frame (5005). The other end of each axle arm is supported by the front coil springs and radius arm.

I have owned several air suspension vehicles. My Expedition was similar to yours. You may want to try the 4x4 switch because it will raise the body 1-2 inches higher. Checking its fuse would not hurt.

On most of my vehicles the suspension would work end to end, raising the front first. You could have 2 issues with the suspension. There should be valving to switch the air to the rear suspension after the front is up. I would wait longer for the rear to catch up.

If I had to guess why the front lifts first it would be to get the front off of the curbs and sidewalks when you park so the bottom doesn't drag.

There is a diagnostic plug for the air suspension and sometimes Autozone or Oreillys have the scanner for that special plug. If not, some alignment shops and all dealers would have it. Also Ford parts are often the same as Lincoln and cheaper., Someone may make aftermarket parts at a better price.

How to change lower ball joints


part of lower arm assembly only.

Installation
  1. Inspect lower ball joint boots and seals for damage and replace if required. Lower ball joint and seal is part of front suspension lower arm and must be replaced as an assembly.
  1. NOTE: Do not tighten the front suspension lower arm bolts and nuts to the specified torque until the end of assembly. Install nuts and tighten until snug.

    Position the front suspension lower arm in the front crossmember. Install the bolts. Install the nuts and tighten until snug.
  1. Install torsion bar. Refer to Torsion Bar in this section.
  1. Raise the front suspension lower arm to allow installation of front suspension lower arm ball joint into spindle bore.
  1. Lower front suspension lower arm with a jack while making sure lower ball joint is seated in spindle bore. Install the lower ball joint attaching nut and tighten to 113-153 Nm (82-113 lb-ft). Install a new cotter pin.
  1. Raise vehicle. Position the front shock absorber and install the nut/washer/bushing assembly. Tighten nut to 40-55 Nm (30-40 lb-ft).
  1. Install the two nuts attaching the front shock absorber to the lower control arm and tighten to 21-29 Nm (15-21 lb-ft).
  1. NOTE: Front suspension lower arms must be in the horizontal or curb position (vehicle on the ground) when tightening the front stabilizer bar link bolts. Use jackstands to raise the front suspension lower arms to the horizontal position or lower the vehicle to the ground (curb position).

    Lower the vehicle to the ground.
  1. Connect the stabilizer bar link bolt to the front suspension lower arm and tighten to 13-17 Nm (10-13 lb-ft).
  1. Tighten nuts and front suspension lower arm bolts to the No. 1 crossmember to 150-200 Nm (111-148 lb-ft).
  1. Check ride height and align as necessary. Refer to Section 04-00 .
  1. Lower the vehicle.
