hi,

sounds like you have the old-style coil elements on you stove.

your problem is the switch under the element, called the infinite switch. i would suggest to have a technician replace it. they usually charge for the labour but if you have never done it before, it's money well spent.

SOURCE: how do you replace a burner switch on a Frigedaire Glasstop Stove

Hello,

The repair on this stove will be relatively easy then. All you are going to have to do is pull out the stove from the wall and remove the upper part of the back panel where the burner switches are.

Remove the knob and take out the screws that hold the switch to that front panel. Then from there just match up the wires to the new switch off the old one.

This repair will turn out to be pretty cut and dry for you. If you have anymore questions please ask.

Thanks Again,
Bill

If you are talking about one of the four(4) elemnts on the top, all you need to do is pull it out and slide the new on back in. According to the model you provided, it has just the standard coil surface burners.

Good Luck!!

You can replace the failed component which is either the burner or the switch that controls the burner. A voltage test would have to be done to determine which compoonent has failed. Generaally it is worthwhile to repair the range.

I have a Heartland Legacy stove. Three of the burners work fine and the spark goes off after the burner is lite.

Remove the grate and burner cap from the problematic burner. Remove the sealed burner base and look for loose connections or disconnected wires. Secure any loose connections and reconnect any disconnected wires, reinstall the burner base, cap and grate. Restore power to the stove and test the connection.

Where are the fuses for the Sears Kenmore stove to elements located on Model C880 675080L0

Most likely no fuses. Either the element or the switch that turns it on is bad. If lighat comes on when you turn on burner the switch is probably ok and the burner went bad.

The gas burners are not igniting when being turned on??? When the dial is turned the gas comes on but the burner does not lite - no clicking sound? Thanks for any help!

Electric gas igniters sometimes get stuck in one position causing a clicking sound. The clicking sound that you hear is the electric arc that is pulsing from the igniter conductor (wire) to ground (the gas burner). It receives power from the electrical outlet that the stove is plugged into.
Residue from food and sometimes cleaning products may be preventing the igniter from producing a spark (Arc) to the base of the burner. This is a common problem that occurs when the stove has been cleaned or food is allowed to build up. Make sure that the igniter and the burner base are clean and dry. This will help with proper operation. Oven cleaner and a small tooth brush may be used to accomplish this. Another problem with ignition may occur if you have too little (touching) or too much space between the igniter and the base of the burner; it will prevent the burner from igniting. You should only have a little more space than the thickness of a nickel between the burner base and the igniter. A good "blue" arc from the igniter to the burner base is optimal. If this doesn’t work, you may need to replace the electric igniter module. Good luck.

Right front electric stove is stuck on high without shutting off, regardless if knob is switched to off. Needed to unplug the stove completely from electricity.

it depends on the model and manufacturer of your stove .. some have solid state relays that could be shorted (usually computer controlled stove) or a conventional relay (for cycling) that may have a stuck contact .. if its a conventiional stove with spiral cooking surface (not smoothtop) .. then you can make sure the burner is not hot and the stove is unplugged .. then you can simply lift and pull the burner out of its socket .. that will get you working temporarily on the other burners until ;you can fix the problem .. that burner could have an internal short to ground .. easy to check with an ohm meter or by substitution of one of the other burners .. if another burner does the same thing then suspect the relay or control switch ... if the substitute burner works properly then replace the defective one ..
