SOURCE: BenQ MP610 Multimedia Projector Problem
I don't have the manual on this one, but in general if the lights indicated that the lamp needed to be changed because of hours of use, then until the lamp hours have been reset, the lights will remain. The owner's manual should have the procedure for resetting the lamp hours. Try that and update this if you still have a problem. Also, check to be sure that the lamp access door is closed completely. There are safety switches that get activated when the door is not installed correctly.

Hello!
After 2 years I finnaly solved the problem. There was a flaw in the lamp´s temperature circuit. A technician disassambled my BENQ PB8253 unit and fixed the problem. Charged me US$ 75.00. I´m in Brazil.
Hope this can help.

if the lamp comes on, hold the exit button down until the osd comes on. press enter, then the right or left arrow button to reset it, then the exit.
SOURCE: Projector shuts down ca 20 sec from start.
I have the same problem, however, my lamp wasn't replaced. Projector working great, just started today. Filter cleaned, reset lamp time, neither helped. Any luck yet?

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions.
I can't reset the lamp because it won't even power on. The projector indicated that it was time to replace the lamp. Once I got the new lamp, I took the old one out and replaced it but now it won't even power on, no lights come on. I've replaced the bulb before and followed the same directions from the manual. Yes, the front cover has to be attached properly and it was - still no power. I even replaced the power cord and tried a different outlet - nothing. The machine will not power on. I called BenQ and they said it was probably the main board or power supply and they don't make the parts anymore and said the parts would be hard to find. I called the vendor that I bought the unit from and they basically said the same thing. It is an old projector, I think I've had it 8 - 10 years. The new ones are much improved so I may just replace this one. Since the bulb is almost $400 and the repairs could cost a significant amount too, I'm thinking it might be more cost effective to just buy a new one. You can get a really nice one that is much better than this one for under $2000. I've sent the bulb back for a refund and I'm looking to buy the Sony VPL-HW45ES. I liked my BenQ PE8700 but the main complaint I had about it was the brightness and the ones now are much brighter, not to mention improved picture quality.
If anyone has any other ideas though, I'm willing to try them....or if anyone is a handy repairman and would like to buy the unit...make me an offer.
