Question about Tasco Target/Varmint 6-24x42mm Rifle Scope Mil Dot Reticle
A side from the fact that this was a birthday present and as a scope goes Tasco isn't worht the swet of my balls I have a sixty year old 222 rem. I use for ground hogs on the farm. Now, the yardage is the same 110 yrds. with and old redfield i can down a ground hog everytime the trigger is pulled. Since I've up graded( and that term is used loosely) I've only been able to accuratley take out one ground hog. I u've used the BSA bore sighting kit, and zeroed the scope to the known distance. How is it this scope is so bad at keeping the bullets on target after one shot?
I bought a 6x24 Tasco (Japanese), maybe 22-25 yrs ago, its on an old 222 Sako. We ( my wife and I) have won many many contests shooting house fly targets at a 100 yds. I bought another Tasco same size for a 22 rimfire ( 50 yd Contest) and it is just junk and Chinese Junk btw. Take it and put it in a gun vise and aim it at a bulls eye at 100yd. While looking through the scope move the crosshairs 6" to the right,
now 6" up, now 6" left and last move it 6" down. Did it track back to the bullseye. If not you know what the answer is,,, the internal workings are faulty and it just junk. Tapping is a good idea, sometimes, but do not tape anything while doing this test.

It has to settle in to the mounts an the mounts to the gun. You take a screw driver and tap on the scope as you adjust it. Tap with the handle and just tap it not bang. every time you make an adjustment tap it. The 222 does not give a great kick so you do not get the settling from that, you have to cause it by taping the scope with the screw driver.
