Sounds like a wire was broken by the belt somehow. You have some fuseable links and large fuses that power the components on the car. I would look around for a loose wire close to the belt side of the engine, and check the fuses for power.
Sounds like it's fouled a spark plug this happens as the plug wires fail and the power goes to ground instead of firing the fuel. The timing belt could have skipped time but the engine may run smooly but have very little power. The plug wires will act like what you say too.The boots get electrcal holes in them and they fire to the head instead of the fuel mixture and then it fires sometimes and throws everything of and they run very badly or not at all.
On the negative battery terminal there is a black box with several small wires going to it. This has the relay grounds for several relays, including the PCM and fuel pump relay. If this box is not perfectly grounded, you won't get power to the PCM. I think this will be your issue since this happened after you replaced the battery, so you would have needed to remove that cable. It goes between the bolt and terminal end, make sure it is clean between there. Otherwise, you are going to have a bad PCM fuse or a bad PCM.
if you have a no spark scenario i would check your crank sensor located at the top left side of the harmonic balance pulley.the crankshaft (about 11'oclock) a 2 wire plug with a sensor on it check to see if it is damaged or unsecured. this sensor can cause no spark if not working correctly. This sensor is based of frequency not voltage testing is difficult, just make sure that there isnt too muck air gap. and that it is secured.Lastly may want to check timing possible that the belt has jumped some teeth and she has fallen out of timing. maybe a bad tensioner The coil will adapt i think up to 10 degree, ****** or advance. Good luck
THE WIRES THAT GOT DAMAGED IS THE VRS OR VARIABLE RELUCTANCE SENSOR SIGNAL PROVIDES ENGINE POSITION AND RPM INFORMATION TO THE IGNITION MODULE AND CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WHICH FIRE PLUGS.THE BROKE WIRES COULD BE YOUR PROBLEM.
Unfortunately the belt has to be replaced and the battery has to be charged for the car to run. It's a quick simple job.If your stuck somewhere I'm sure a local friendly shop can bring you a belt and give you a jump.5min.
