Be sure to use a brand new needle (130/705), that it is installed with the flat part facing the back of the machine, and the needle is pushed all the way up before the screw is tightened.

Make sure everything is threaded correctly. When threading the upper thread, ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot so the thread will seat in the tension disk.

If it still will not pick up the bobbin thread, it most likely has a timing issue, ie the needle is arriving at the bobbin at the wrong time to intercept the bobbin thread. Take it for service.

My bernina 150 QE will not stitch. It has power but I press on the foot pedal and it just hums.

Check to see if your machine is set to load bobbins. Also, check to make sure that your feed dogs are set to the upper (on) position.

The upper thread is constantly breaking. Don't know how to fix it. Any suggestions?

Check the tension for upper thread and bobbin(tiny screw to turn anticlockwise to give less tension)

Bobbin thread tangling into knots on my Bernina QE 153

Its possible, refer to your machine manual to adjust the tension. You might need to change your needle to fit the thread you are using.

Bernina Virtuoso 150 - all of a sudden my machine is dropping stitches and the bobbin thread is bunching up. It also most feels like my machine is trying to do a gather stitch. I changed the needle and...

Check that the thread is tight around the bobbin. Make sure that the bobbin is in the right way around - the bobbin thread should double back on itself coming out of the bobbin holder. The bobbin tension adjustment is the small screw in the plate on the bobbin case that the thread passes under as it comes off the bobbin and goes out.

I have a Bernina 153 QE Virtuosa. The bobbin carriage is noisy. When I notice that it is suddenly sounding smoother, I can be sure it has run out of bobbin thread. I have taken it in to my dealer for...

The previous answer is incorrect. The bobbin should turn clockwise in the bobbin case, but then the thread doubles back through the bobbin case tension slot so the end of the thread would be pulling counter clockwise. Are you using genuine Bernina bobbins? Sometimes, generic bobbins do not work as well.

Are you applying a drop of oil to the shuttle/hook area every 8 hours of sewing time? Lack of oil makes my machine noisier. When I notice the sound has changed, I know it's time it needs some TLC.

If you are still having problems with the Bernina technician, try to find another dealer.

Some one said if you use a different needle will damage the hook what is a hook i use a different needle for awhile how can you tell if you damage the hook i got a bernina 153 QE from a friend work good...

The hook is in the bobbin area and is what takes the thread from the needle to make the stitch. A standard 15x1 needle or 705 needle is the correct needle for your machine. They are available at ant sewing center.
