Make sure all of your messages have been read- beyond that, it could be an alert that your messages are nearly full or that the battery is low if it is a wireless voicemail box.
Make sure you deleted the messages, then also make sure your phone itself does not have its own messaging. It may be that your phone service provider just needs to reset your message waiting signal. I would give them a try.
