Connection is slow

the internet connection it's slow?
try to go to
run a test if it's a lot lower than the speed you're paying for make sure you dont have a splitter or filter between the modem and the jack.
if you dont replace the phonecable
powercycle to the modem.
if stills doesnt help connect the modem straight to the pc without the router.
if the speed its a lot faster its going to be a problem with the router, if the problem persist contacn you internet service provider.

Compatibility with high speed ADSL2 Broadband

Yes, Linksys WRT160N is 100% compatible with ADSL2. Linksys WRT160N is a Broadband router.

you will not be able to use the linksys WRT160N, as an ADSL2 modem router. you should be using an ADSL2 Modem separately and connect the cable from the modem to the Linksys WRT160N. Hope this clarify the doubt.

Internet speed not as indicated by modem

problem occurs usually after upgrade of internet speed. contact your ISP again, ask them to check for latency or dropped packets within their network. they need to run a traceroute from their end and it would also be better if you can run a traceroute from your end. also run a speedtest through or There's also a possibility that the modem is becoming faulty. If your ISP provided you the modem it's still best to contact them for possible replacement.

BT Voyager 2091 Wireless ADSL Router - DROP OUT

If you face frequent drop outs confirm with your isp that it's not a problem with line...and also check the physical setup of broadband check if your router is connected to main socket of your house where telephone line enters in your house......
now when you face drop outs check on your hard wired comp whether you remain connected or not if no its a problem with line..
if no reconfig your bt router for wireless network change the channel of your wireless network either to 1 or 11...
or either there is one other way reset your router to default settings by pressing the pin at the back of your router..
and after that your router will start its default wireless network i.e a unsecure network..
try connecting to that network if still the same there are drop outs it's a problem with bt to config the router...
