Since iPods are basically big hard drives with special software and a screen, the hard drive in your iPod needs to be formatted.
Formatting is essentially the process of prepping the drive to talk to the computer it connects to.
Luckily, you usually don't have to worry about formatting your iPod.
Formatting happens automatically when you first set up your iPod.
If you use your iPod with a Mac, during this process it becomes Mac formatted.
If you use it with Windows, it gets Windows formatting.

If you want to clear the hard drive...the way you will format it you will double left click on "My computer" when the window opens you will have to find your Ipod amonst the listings...right click on it and select "format"...the follow the instructions

Download itunes from here and install it on your pc.
Connect your ipod to your computer. Follow the instruction on the itunes. Ask me if you need further instruction.

• Remove iPod shuffle from the dock (if connected).
• Move the power switch on the bottom of iPod shuffle to the off position.
• Wait 5 seconds.
• Move the power switch to the "on" position. The green stripe will be visible.

iPod shuffle is now reset.

The wall adapter logo means the ipod need connecting to an external power scource to complete the restart procedure. Once this is done it will reset to the facory settings.
