There are some screws in the hinge cover that pops out in most laptops , then a few screws to remove keyboard, and the cable attaching keyboard to motherboard , a clip to lift up

It maybe the problem of your graphics processor,so you can't see the NOOK working normally .Your Acer Aspire 9300 battery haven't effect to this mattery ,why you tried taking it out !
Unplug computer>power down> remove battery>remove all screws on exterior housing> remove internal screws> disconnect the wire/cable from keyboard>remove keyboard.

If there is power beside you,why not connect you laptop to the family power,it will be good to your acer aspire 9300 battery life .Pay attention to your acer aspire 9300 laptop have been 2 years old,i think it most properly some problem to your acer aspire 9300 battery.

You will need to disconnect these. Then you will locate the five metal tabs along the back, which need to be pressed in, which releases the top part of the keyboard and it will now come out. Then re assemble connectors through the access holes you will now see very tricky job more plug connectors inside to so go carefull make sure you disconnect these correctly as you may pull the wires out
