You have a bad run capacitor. You can change it or you can get a service tech to change it. About 150 for the job Rus

2002 4 ton Bryant air conditioner shuts off, fan still runs but not cooling is problem in the controls in the attic or in the AC unit or both?

With a non heat pump it is a simple 24 volt AC control circuit. In the attic there is a relay that is actuated via the fan control wire directly from the thermostat. On the thermostat there is an auto/man switch that controls the fan. Manual the fan runs all the time. Auto fan turns on and off with the outside compressor.

If the system is not calling for cool and the fan continues to run the fan relay is sticking. common problem. Sometimes after running for several days the relay will stop sticking if not, replace relay.

If the system is calling for cool and the compressor stops I would still expect the fan to run until thermostat tells the A/C to off. Some compressor units include a safety switch or high-pressure cut-out switch A blocked internal valve bad control board or external fan in outside unit defective no air flow in outside unit.
High pressure cut out not good,

Suggest turning temp max cool and observe. If acceptable cool and the compressor runs without interruption all is good, except for the blower in the attic. Safely check relay in attic blower circuit.

Hope this helps.

My air conditioner has stop working its blowing air inside but the fan is not spinning outside .....

If the fan is not running is the compressor not running also...if neither is running the possible reasons are 1..no power to outside unit...2..bad contactor on outside unit.is this buzzing if it is this indicates no power...3 bad capacitor,do both compressor and fan humm then quit humming and hum some more...4 high pressure switch has shut unit down because fan wasnt running if compressor was running but not fan....if your unit has this there will be a manual reset button where the lines come out of unit...if compressor was running and fan was not...1 bad fan...2 bad capacitor.. if you do not have any electrical knowhow i would recommend calling a hvac tech to come and fix unit...Thanks

Hi i have a rheem central air unit. The outside unit does not want to turn on. i just recharged it with freon about a month ago so it cant be that

Check the circuit breaker(s) for the outdoor unit. Then set the thermostat to make the unit come on and see if the contactor pulls in. If it doesn't turn the fan switch from auto to on and see if the indoor fan comes on. If not your transformer could be shot. If the contactor pulled in on the outside unit check the capacitor for the fan and compressor.

Carrier Compressor Issues?

When you shut it off and back on it slugged the compressor if you turn it off and back on before the pressures equalize between the high and low sides it will slug the compressor and it will not run should let sit for five minutes or so before restarting. The humming is either the compressor making noise usually common for the compressor to make some noise or the fan motor bearings are getting bad on the outside unit. If the unit works normal probably not much you can do till it breaks if it is the compressor it is more economical to replace the whole unit if it is just the fan motor it is worth changing. You could take an amp draw on the fan motor and the compressor to see if the are within the limits on the name plate of the outside unit.

AC wont kick on....

The first thing to check is your breaker box. There should be one double breaker for the air handler unit, that's the inside unit, and one double breaker for the compressor, that's the outside unit. Check both breakers. If you're not sure if they've be thrown, click them toward the outside of the breaker box (off position) and then click them toward the inside of the breaker box (on position). If the breakers are on and you still are not getting any A/C take a look at your compressor, (outside unit). If the fan is running at least you're getting power. However, your compressor down inside the unit may not be getting power or it may need to be replaced. The compressor has a start-up cap. If this cap goes bad or the wires from this cap fry or corrode away, this will also keep the compressor from starting but the fan will still run. If the fan is not running it could be caused by a faulty relay inside the compressor cabinet. This relay is supposed to open and close based on a low voltage signal from the thermostat. I believe it's roughly 24 volts. This relay switches on and off the 240 volts for the compressor and the compressor fan. Often this relay goes bad or the wires leading up to it fry. If you?re going to work on the unit yourself make sure all power is shut off. There should be a shutoff switch on the outside wall near the compressor. I?d also shut the breakers off.

Rheem Classic X Humming

does the indoor fan come on if fan comes on then the problem is out side if the fan is not coming on and the breaker blows this will turn off the out door unit also due to the 24v transformer is located in the indoor unit your system has two breakers one for out door and one for indoor units as far as your contactor goes with power off look at the contacts if pitted bad replace it most need replaced after 5yrs also check for voltage drop on the load side look at the capacitor to make sure it is not swelled up on top if so then bad unplug the fan motor and bump the contactor with an insulated object to make sure the compressor is running if not with power off remove the cap on the side of the compressor and look to see if wires are connected good they some times get lose and ends burn off also on the contactor they some times buzz when bad hope this helps with your problem

I have a rheem air conditioner and the fan spins and it pushes air but the air is not cold enough?

hi! there,
well we have to do something about that,if you mention of fan spin and it pushes air but no cold enough on it,this refer to blower on compressor, there is fan on outside the condenser,so we are on blower w/c does not blow enough cold air, there are factors we can check, first thermostat try to adjust thermostat to the coldest point,
observed if cold was increasing if not, 2nd have clean the filter from evaporator it may have a clogged, check evaporator if there freezing ice on bottom portion of evaporator w/c cold was coming out, have it clean, cleaning this is done by certified a/c technician, there is problem if have an insufficient cold, this is the symptom of your system was under charge lack of freon, this can check by technician w/ clamp ammeter device.the operating current should be equal to rated current on manual, inform service center about this, have a nice day don't forget to rate me.thanks's
