Question about Acer Aspire One AOA150-1983 Notebook PC

System will not boot past the windows startup screen. I have tried to boot in safe mode but no joy. I have also tried to boot using ERD commander on a flash drive to try and salvage my files but once again...no joy. Any suggestions on how to recover the files?

When you reboot you need to press the f8 key. Is that what you tried ? Try tapping the f8 key every second or so until you get to the startup choices. once there choose command prompt and then run chkdsk / f.

I have a Samsung NP-RF511 S04AU That won't start past the startup screen. I don't want to lose what is on my C drive can someone please help. I am running Window 7

Several things you can try.
Roll back system with System Restore. Under Safe Mode (press F8 during boot and choose Safe Mode). Win 7 - Start > Search type System Restore. Now choose a date prior to problem. You may have to try a few dates. Uninstall last program(s) that was installed, again in safe mode.

In Safe Mode try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig. In Startup tab, uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running. This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when only you initiate.

My asus u52f-bbl9 doesn't want to move past the boot screen

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode?

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc ora operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot fromit. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with whiteletters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice thepercentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run tocompletion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows.Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair whenthe options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recoveryconsole and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.
If all fails Sounds like your operating system needs to be reinstalled or you can do a system recovery to set it back to when you first bought it.

How do you put windows into safe mode?

Power on or Restart your computer, keep tapping F8 on the keyboard while it boots up. After few seconds, you'll be taken to the "Advanced Boot Options" with "Safe Mode" in the lists. Use the Up-Down arrow keys to highlight the "Safe Mode" and press enter on the keyboard to confirm the selected boot options. Black Screen with white texts will be displayed on the display, wait for few seconds until you see the windows logon Screen. You'll also see a confirmation message box asking you to confirm to boot into Safe Mode, click "yes" or "Ok" and proceed forward. There now you are in the Safe Mode.

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

MY toshiba 4300 was working untill i tried to install internet explorer 8 then i prompted me to shut down and ever since then when i turn it on a blue screen pops up saying boot volume or somthing i need...

Hi, yes. Download a program called ERD Commander 2008 or 2005 and make a bootable CD. I think you will download an ISO so you need Nero to burn it on a disk. Then boot from it (on the toshiba 4300) and once you are using the ERD commander, look for system restore, and it's the same as the Windows system restore. Choose a day before you downloaded the Internet Explorer and see if it works. I hope this helps. Don't forget to rate and provide positive feedback for our fast-free response today. Thank you :D

Forgot administrative password how can i solve problem???

Well if it's windows xp, then you could try going into safe mode by pressing th F8 key at startup (before the windows XP splash screen), then trying to login under administrator. If that doesn't work, or if you have Vista, you will either have to try to get a password cracking program (like Ophcrack, or ERD commander 2007). Otherwise, you will ahve to backup and reinstall your operating system.
