The belt was too tight.. if this happens, you might also damage the bearings of the alternator assy...
remove the alterenator brcket/adjustment bracket... then remove the bolt connecting the assy to the engine... replace the alternator assy. then reverse the process to installl the new assy.. and tightened.... be sure to leave some play to the belt.... to prevent overstretching
