Question about OKI C5300n Led Printer

1 Answer

I have a new network printer (Samsung SCX-5635FN) I cant get connection to the printer. I have connected to the LAN port of my router and tried both DHCP and static IP. I have try to change the LAN cable (to be sure that it is not the cable) but I will newer get the green light for the LAN port for my router. I have tried to connect the printer to the LAN port of my Print Server and I will see a green light for a moment for the LAN port of the print server and I will see yellow light on the LAN port of the priner (I will not see that light when pluged to the router) but I still not able to connect to the printer. Hi kjarrithai, we want to help you with your question, but we need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?
What make and model number is the router ?
is it a cisco Router ?
if it is a cisco router or a form of intelligent router it might have port security set and be blocking the ethernet port and may need some settings changed in the router ?

I don't know why this question is dated
"Apr 11, 2017", because I did ask this question 8 or 9 years ago. At that time I didn't found any help, but the printer sometimes got connect, and sometimes not (I never know why), I ended up to using it with the USB connection. I don't own this printer any more, so I don't need any help for it now.

Have yo installed the printer on to the system ( add a printer ), have you installed the correct driver for the printer
it is not a matter of just connecting leads and expecting it to work

Resolution:
Using HP JetAdmin.

Select Device then Modify
Next until arriving at the Options screen.

Here is where we make the necessary changes to the parallel mode and handshaking

Click on the pull down arrow and change the parallel mode to Centronics and make sure handshaking is set to nACK and Busy then click Finish. Reboot the JetDirect box and cycle the power on the printer.

I just had this exact same problem - same printer, same Jetdirect model. Mine turned out to be the parallel printer mode setting inside the JetDirect. I connected to the configuraiton page by IP, then changed the Parallel mode from "AUTO" to "Centronics", tested it, and it worked fine after that. Hope it helps.

SOURCE: Cannot print on the network

I would print out a menu map from the printer and check the IP address that is set is the same as the one in the ports tab in the printer properties. If this is not the case then change one to match the other. Also make sure that the printers IP address is set manually and not by DHCP because DHCP will change the address every time it is switched on/off.

SOURCE: oki3400n - how to assign a static ip address

I found this post via Google trying to solve the similar problem with C3200n.

>> this will then cause problems as all the pcs that are trying to print to this
>> printer will no longer be able to find the printer.

Originally, I also had this problem (with C200n, but it is probably similar). If I recall correctly, I solved it as follows:

1. Open the OKI LPR UTILITY from the machine you are trying to print from.
http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/4552/okilprutility2009080217.png

2. Choose Option > Setup
http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/9641/setup20090802171057.png

3. Make sure that the Auto Reconnect checkbox is checked.

Again, I believe that is what I did to solve that I couldn't print after power outages etc. The IP is not static, but it still solves the problem.

---------
Static IP

Today I wanted a static IP for my OKI C3200n because sometimes there would be conflict between the IP for my printer and another machine in the house with a static IP.

What I did was the following.

1. In the printer menu locate the NETWORK MENU
http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/6889/dscn0525e.jpg

2. Go to the IP ADDRESS SET option, change from AUTO to MANUAL
http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/6122/dscn0526x.jpg
http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/7987/dscn0527j.jpg

3. Go to the IP ADDRESS OPTION, change to the desired ip address. In my case it was at 10.0.0.5, but I wanted 10.0.0.6 for the printer, so I changed it to that. Typically this is either 10.0.x.x or 192.168.x.x

http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/4407/dscn0528p.jpg
http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/1669/dscn0529r.jpg

4. Press the online button. The printer will reset the network connection (it took approx 1 minute)
http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/2539/dscn0530.jpg

5. This should be enough. You can try to ping the printer at the new IP, or navigate to the new IP in your browser:

How to configure 4 Lan + 1 Printer +internet connections

    Hello,

If all your connections are wired, you can use one of the three following solutions.

    1. Purchase a router with more then 4 LAN ports on it.
    2. If the printer or any of the computers have a wireless network card, then purchase a wireless router and simply connect 4 LAN cables and 1 WLAN.
    3. Purchase a hub. Connect 3 computers to the first 3 LAN ports on the router; connect the hub to the fourth LAN port and then connect the last computer and the printer to the hub. In essence both your computer and the printer will share the same IP address (the IP given to the hub) and they should work.

In any of these situations, connect the internet connection to the WAN port of your router.

    Thanks,

    Pat

Netgear FWG114P Print Sever not functioning on upper level of LAN

if you set your dynalink's dhcp list up to a certain number (example: .1-.99). connect cat5 cable from dynalink lan port, into print server lan port. make sure print server can be setup as access point. if so, turn access point setting to on. make print server static ip address the next number outside of dhcp range (example: .100).

.100 ip address is the port number you should then be printing to, using a tcp/ip port.

if print server can be set up this way, then it now becomes wireless access point for all wireless devices. i am assuming, since you didn't mention it, that the dynalink is NOT wireless. if it is, the the print server just becomes another device on your existig network, taking the place of the network adapter the printer doesn't have. just set it up the same way you would set up another workstation on the network. except, make it static.

I dont know the exact tip for this one. but you can try the following steps to solve this problem.

Download the Windows Vista printer driver for the SCX-4216F multifunction printer from www.samsung.com.
    1. Install the driver on your Windows Vista computer. During installation, you’ll be prompted to connect the printer to your computer. Choose the option to proceed with installation without connecting the printer.
    2. After installation completes, open the Printers applet from the Windows Vista Control Panel.
    3. Right-click on the new Samsung SCX-4100 Series printer and choose Properties.
    4. Go to the Ports tab.
    5. Click Add Port…, select Local Port, then click New Port…
    6. For the port name, enter exactly the network path and share name of your printer (e.g. \\RECEPTION\Samsung SCX-4×16 Series).
    7. Click OK, and double-check that this new port is selected with the checkbox next to it.
    8. Click OK to close the printer properties.
