Question about Blizzard Entertainment StarCraft Battle Chest for Windows, Mac

1 Answer

Installation Freezes I just bought the Battle Chest and I install the first disc just fine and then it asks for the 2nd one, I put it in and it installs to 95% when its installing the maps and it always freezes at the shadowlands map. They are brand new discs and my computer is new and dosnt have any problems outside of this. I went online and downloaded a torrent for SC and BW with the serial keys and everything and then mounted them with d-tools but of course it was the older version where the cd keys were 13 characters instead of 16 or whatever the new ones are now so iI couldnt put the CD key from the one I bought in there. I was thinking that if I installed the shadowlands map before installing it with the BW disc I bought it might see that its already there and skip it.. but that didnt work. I have tried the fuction "run as administrator" and that didnt work either. I wish I could just install SC and not BW, but of course that would be too easy then huh... I dont want to think that I just spent 20 bucks on something that wont even install on my computer -.- Anyone have any suggestions? Im pretty much out of ideas.

Is there any possible way for you to see if it installs correctly on another computer? If it does then the problem doesn't have anything to do with the discs however if the installation error happens on another computer warranty will cover the replacement of the discs for you. I am not at my Vista computer right now but I know there is an option to run in XP compatibility mode, if you can turn that on, by right clicking and going into the disc/program properties, then you may be able to install it. Of course, that would only work if your on Vista, although XP has a compatibility mode for 98/me/2000 which might work. That's all that I can think of right now.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

My battle chest only came with starcraft disc one and the brood was expansion. What is disc 2?

In the new versions of the battle chest, the installer installs both starcraft and brood wars. You only need one cd key, and when it asks for disk two it wants the brood wars disk

I had the same problem, just put the expansion disc in the drive, that is the second disc they just didn't label them that way. It is the greenish grey looking disc, that is actually disc 2. Please give me thumbs up.

When I install Starcraft, it ends up as a failure to install

Go to Shop.blizzard.com. Setup an account. After you do, you can register your cd keys and just download the game so that you don't need to use the disks at all.

No second install disk!!

If you put in the Brood War expansion cd, the installation will resume. Apparently that's the 2nd disc. It also shows up as SCDisc 2 under computer in the start menu.

Problem installing StarCraft Battle chest

Hey.
1. Switch off your antivirus software.
2. Locate the folder(s) mentioned in error message, click with right mouse button on them and then untick "Read only" checkbox (choose second option in next window).
It works fine for me under Win XP (SP3)
