My Asus A3000 Fn key won't work

Basically, my Asus A3000 had to have XP re-installed on it. and now the Fn functions don't work (for example Fn+F10 for mute doesn't work).
I WOULD use the Asus recovery disc except I don't know where it's been placed, and my Disc drive is not working. Is there a website with what I need?

You can try www.asus.com. Go to the support link; lookup your specific model #, and select the operating system you are running. A list of all available software/bios/drivers files will appear. Download and install those you need. Reboot and you should be all set. Hope this helps.

How do I turn down volume?

I have an ASUS laptop and I use fn f11 for volume down, fn f12 for volume up, and fn f10 for mute.
fn is the function key and is found on the left bottom of the keyboard between the ctrl and windows keys.

My keyboard won't light up on an ASIA G73J. I have tried the function keys and they won't work.

Did you hold down the [fn] key, in combination with the function keys? If not, you have to hold down the [fn] key in combination with pressing the function key's that are associated with the keyboard back-lighting (usually [F3] or [F4] on an ASUS G-series).

Hi i have the asus n53jg laptop. absolutly amazing laptop cant nock it i just have a little problem that i want to get sorted see the laptops function keys that run along the top have shortcuts on them...

Hi,

The function keys that you have works alone and in combinations. You can press and hold Fn key then tap on any of those keys to get the short cuts. You can also press and hold Alt key and any of those to get another short cut. It actually depends on what you want to do.

For example:

Using single key:
F5 - it will refresh a window
F11 - try it in internet explorer to see the result

Using Combination:
Alt + F4 - it will close an open window
Fn + F3 - it will lock or disable your touchpad

I hope I understood your concern and helped. Goodluck

Keyboard of myASUS K50IJ-XA1 15.6-Inch Versatile Entertainment Laptop (Black) is locked How to unlock the same? Kindly help

Well, do you mean only the keyboard is locked? Can you boot the system properly? Is the mouse working? Which Operating System is running on your Laptop?
Here are a couple solutions you can try before you let me know the above queries.
1. Press and hold down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard while pressing the L key on the keyboard once. In other words, Press Windows Key + L once. If this doesn't work, don't forget to include the Fn key while pressing these two keys. Windows+Fn+L. Still nothing?
2. Turn off the Machine, remove the battery and unplug the charger. Leave it for at least 10 seconds, you can press the power On button on the laptop without the battery and the charger installed/plugged in. Now re-install the battery, and turn back On the machine. It should work.
If you need further help, if the problem persists, Let me know with the details.
Good Luck.

I can´t turn on wireless on my HP Pavillion dv9000.what I should to do to turn it on?

Is this working well before? Do you think your wireless adapter is installed and is working properly?

If it is so, then just turn ON your wifi radio receiver by holding down the FN key on your keyboard and pressing a corresponding FUNCTION Key. Look for the function key (F1 to F12) with the wifi radio wave icon on it like ))) or ((( ))). Example, if F10 has that wifi icon, then hold down FN and press F10 to turn your wifi ON or OFF.

Where is the wireless switch on a Acer Aspire 5735

Usually, if there is no HARD SWITCH for wifi, there is an equivalent keyboard key combination to turn wifi radio receiver ON. Look at your laptop's Function Keys: F1, F2, ... F12. Among them there is an icon for WIFI, something that looks like an antenna with wave signals. Now press and hold the FN key and press that function key with the wifi icon. Example, if the wifi icon appears at F10, then press FN + F10 to turn your wifi ON or OFF.

Problem in opening the wireless connection and the Cd installation cannot open also

Sounds like you have removed the hotkey functions.

You will need to go on here,

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

Find your model in the A3000 series and download both of the "Utilities" in the "Other" section and install them. Should be ok after this is done.
