Re: emailing photos

You can change the resolution in the camera setup menu, or u can open the pic with MS Paint and adjust the image (at top) attributes with the 'skew' command. Remember to skew vertical and horizontal equally, then save again with an adjusted name (I add one digit - like "1")

Down loaded pictures for first time want to email one . keep getting errors

And, what are those errors? Hard to help you without information.

Possible your pictures are "too large" for email. Most email systems have a maximum size. If that's the problem, you can use a photo editing program to shrink the picture.

HOW DO I DOWNLOAD PICS FROM cannon SD1100 IS? Then i would like to e-mail them. please guide me. thx

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Once the pictures are on our computer's hard disk, you can email them the same way you email anything else. Depending on the email program you're using, you'll probably either hit the attach button or select File'Attach.

When i download my pictures in apples Iphoto all pictures are downloaded but when i try to send all my downloaded pictures by email some can't be sent.

On your Mac there's a preinstalled program called Image Capture... in your applications folder
opening this App. will let you choose what photo's to copy from your camera plugged in and where to save them... with iphoto there is always issues with exporting for emails.
also depending on your email account provider there may data restrictions with how many files you can email at once...

When I take photos I can't figure out how to get the byte size down to send on email. Right now the email photo I send is huge and takes a lot of time to download. Help.

I'm assuming you have a PC. Just right-click on the picture you want to e-mail. From the list that appears, choose e-mail recipient. A new window will open and give you the options to send the picture at different sizes. Choose one and your e-mail will open with the photo attached.

Pictures Too Large to Email ?

You've got several options here.

1. Set the resolution in the camera. Press the Fn button, then select Size. The smallest choice is 1024x768, which is less than one megapixel. But if you just happen to spot that UFO, you won't get very good pics of it. And if all you wanted was 1MP pictures, why did you bother go get an 8MP camera?

2. Resize the picture on the camera. Press the E(ffect) button, then select Resize.

3. Do the resizing on the PC. Both Windows Photo Gallery and iPhoto have this capability. In some ways this is the best option, since you get all the pics in high-res, just in case that UFO shows up in a corner. And when you send email, you're probably sitting at a computer anyway.

Emailing photos

I would still take them at a high resolution. That way if you would want to make prints they would be of good quality.

If you want to email them the best thing to do is to download them and then open the pictures you want to email with whatever editing program you have and use the resize options. If you resize them to around 400 X 600 or even 600 X 800 pixels they should be a good size to email. Once you resize them use the Save as... menu option to put a suffix on it.

For example, if you had a picture named Image_0001. Open it at full size. Resize it. Then select Save as... and name it Image_001_small or Image_001_email. That leaves the original intact and now allows you to attach the smaller one to an email that is a nice size.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for using Fixya.
