Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I keep seeing power issues with the A75 but mine just locked up I shut it down and now when I power up the fan runs for a few seconds and then nothing on the screen or anything. It started when the wireless stopped working and then if I was running plugged in I would have to unplug it and then plug back in and I can see where that would be the power jack but not the wireless. I removed all components one at a time and it does the same thing. I am lost and not sure where to go from here.

I have a emachine that powers ou, power pack fan, cpu fan but not the hardrive. It shut down and now won't start up. No beeps

Unplug from AC, open the case, clean if necessary, reseat the memory mods, use Electronic Contact Cleaner spray on contacts, plug in, push the on/off button. Does it begin to start, and in a few seconds completly shuts down? No LED's , no fans, nothing? Sounds like a PSU failure. Mine went out in 6 years.

Why does my desktop pro keeps shutting down unexpectedly

Just to clarify a G5 is not a Pro or "desktop Pro" (Mac Pro is an Intel based machine). Yours is a "Power Mac". Install a temp monitoring app to see the temperature (mainly the CPU temps). Mine runs around 50 to 60 Celsius and never more than 72. If the temps run to high she will shut down. G5 are great machines but it's not rare for them to go bad. Power supply issues and liquid coolant leaks are well know. Fans controllers have stopped working (the fans them selves are usually OK).

Hi. My notebook (Toshiba Satellite A75-S229) is having overheating problems. Every time the notebook overheats, it shuts down...just like that (I know that's what overheating means). When I watch an...

download CPUID's hardware monitor from here and install it:

http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php

install, run it and ckeep checking the CPU and videocard temps. They should all be lower than 75 C. If higher, they are overheating. If this is the case, check if the cpu fan is working. You may also want to clean up the dust from your notebook, using a compressed air can (I buy mine at walmart)

My Toshiba A75-S211 overheats and shuts off.

That is common with Toshiba. Check to see if your fans are running. Also, there may be a lot of dust, hair, etc inside the laptop causing it to heat up. I recommend buying a laptop cooler. I got mine for $10 and I never have over heating problems anymore. Hope that helps:)

Dell Dimension 8400 locks up after 15 - 20 minutes of use it doesn't matter the applications that are running. The start button must be pressed and held for a few seconds to power down the unit. It will...

Sounds like an overheating problem to me. Try taking off the side of the case, and starting the unit. Pay close attention to the fans that you can see. leave the computer running, and continue to check the fans. If a fan is going bad, not working, or going to slow, then the processor will overheat, and shut off the computer. Bad fans are easy to replace, just make sure you get the right size, with the right plug. This is just one possible reason for your problem, a further troubleshooting of the unit is needed...possible bad RAM, or video card failure can cause this mysterious shut down.

Toshiba boots up power light stays on and shuts down, bad m/b ?

I own a Laptop Toshiba Satellite A75-S2131.
This series have a problem with the cooling flow to the processor.
The processor overheats and the laptop shuts down.To solve this particular problem you must tear down the laptop and clean up the processor heatsink (you will find it totally plugged or partially dirty).
Find in the internet the step by step instructions (with photos) for dismantling this laptop. Do not forget to apply thermal paste between processor & heatsink.

I hope this solution helps.

Fan runs, shuts down on cool

Sounds like a power supply problem. There is enough power to run the fan but when you turn it to cool the current draw by the compressor drops the voltage. The lower power light is telling you the answer to your problem.

Lcd tv shuts down by its self

All you need to do is remove the back cover, then remove the metal cover that covered the power supply. Watch tv w/o cover, it won't shut down again. Try it and post here if it works.
