My car ran out of gas, put more in wont start. put new fuel pump, filter wont start. its getting spark tried the anti theif system relearn bit didnt help
Could be as simple as an air lock in your fuel lines. Its best to never let your tank get below one quarter full as it can cause moisture to build up in your tank as well. It does not cost any more to keep a full tank than to let it run empty then fill it.

was the fuel pump bad to begin with -recheck connections to pump also check pump relay -are u getting fuel is pump working[hum- fuel pumping in fuel lines ] was fuel filter changed check and or replace if clogged was ur problem fuel or elect --are u getting spark if no spark check ur coil packs and systematically check your emission sensors
As with any no start issue, you need to figure out if you are dealing with a no fuel or no spark problem to proceed. The pump could have failed, or the filter in the tank could be plugged up. I would make sure it has spark at the plugs and then check fuel pressure with a gauge.
Did you check for spark? It sounds like you're not getting spark. Check for spark. If you are not getting spark then it sounds like you might have to replace the coil packs. Is it running a L4 engine? If its running a standard chevy L4 its probably the coil packs. Try to replace them check again for spark.
First, you should Make sure that is the problem. Usually if your filter is clogged enough to kill the car, if you wait 10 to 15 minutes the car will restart. The fuel will eventually seep thru the filter. You more likely have a relay or fuel pump problem if it is fuel. Try removing the air filter and spraying carb cleaner into the intake, if it is a fuel problem, it will start. If it is a spark problem it will not. Most vehicles have a filter inline about half-way between the tank and the engine underneath the car. If you jack the car, trace the 2 lines from the fuel tank tds. the engine. There will probably be a cover to protect the filter.
Well lxmccarthy, since you put a new fuel pump in, check a hose after the pump and see if any gas is being delivered. You can also try some starting fluid in the carb to get something going. There probably is just some air in the fuel line.
