Timer recording on GoVideo VR2940

I am a Time Warner cable subscriber using a cable box with my Mitsubishi TV CK-35306. I have a GoVideo VR2940 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo. In trying to program a timer recording, when I get to the poiint of setting the channel to be recorded I can get only Channels 3, 7, 75 and then Line 1 and then Line 2. (Channel 3 is my channel for using the recorder/player.)

I am able to record only Channel 3.

How do I get other channels set to record?

First, you need to have the cable directly input into the recorder.

If you only plug the cable box into the machine, you get what is happening now.
After splitting the cable, one side into te box and the other into the recorder, run the channel seek part of the program and it will scan all the channels available on the cable and place them in memory.

Then plug the output of the cable box into the other input on the recorder, and you get yor pay channels and upper tiers.

Your recorder is now a switching unit as well

We have a govideo vr2940 and the dvd recorder does not copy vhs to dvd. the machine wont read the disk. we tried different types of blank dvd's but still says no disk. i found a solution that says...

I've had this problem (No disc) with my VR2940 and was preparing to open it up and find and clean the lens that detects the disc. This was suggested as a solution.
However, I used a can of compressed air (enviro-duster) and sprayed air in the drive slot (back and forth since I don't know where the lens is located).
No problem since, but I keep a can handy.

Timer recording will only record channel 3

Hello there,

This is most likely because the recorder is connected to a cable box. When setting the timer recording feature with a cable box as the source, you are not actually selecting the channel to record. You are selecting the recording source. The cable box sends all of the channels to the recorder using RF channel 3. In this case, the channel for recording will be whichever channel is selected on the cable box.

To help me give you a more definite answer, please can you answer the following quick questions:

1. Are you using a cable box?
2. If using a cable box, how is it connected to the recorder?
3. What is the model number of the GoVideo recorder, e.g. DVR4000?

I have Time Warner cable. I have a Symphonic SR90VE vcr/dvd that I have hooked up to the main TV. The cable box services a second tv in another room. I can't seem to get the main tv and the vcr/dvd player...

Cable goes to vcr cable INPUT, then run cables from vcr OUPUT to tv INPUT or AV.

Then put tv on input or av channel or channel 4 and use put the vcr on the channel you want to record.
