When I flip the phone open, the screen remains in the vertical view, as if I would have never flipped it open. This is the third replacement I've had in less than a month, so I'm pretty sure its not something I'm doing wrong. The keyboard remains unresponsive until the screen decides to flip (if it ever does).
My daughters phone had the same problem. It turned out that my very magnetic purse (which I had put her phone in) messed it up. I took the phone and reran it over the battery vertically and horizontally and it started to work instantly. I guess the phones are very sensitive to magnets (purses, money clips, phone cases/holster holders) so be careful. Hope this helps!!!
The flex cable of your phone between the keyboard and screen may be disconnected or needs to be replaced, which enables the screen flips when the keyboard is brought up. The best step here is to take it to the LG repair shop and get it mended. Though you can it is difficult to repair it yourself, you can use appropriate screwdrivers for the screws of the phone, find the flex cable and fix it. Close the phone just the way you opened it.
