Question about Corel Draw 8

1 Answer

When I type a capital I, sometimes Corel Draw 8 shuts down.

This is the most annoying thing to happen. Especially when I am on a roll typing and I forget to save every 10 seconds.

Purchase Corel. Don't go for fake serial or any crack. Crack has Trojans that infects your computer. And fake serials always goes invalid now days because the serials are verified through vendor's server.

1.) Did you paste the fonts into a text box in Corel? Sometimes this works better than importing.

I have used CorelDraw 8 for years, and the clipart worked fine, even with Windows XP, but I installed CorelDraw X4 and installed it. But after Installing CorelDraw X4, I could no longer is CorelDraw 8...

I had a similar problem with Coreldraw 8. I used it successfully for years and loved it on varoius version of Windows, currently XP. I installed Coreldraw 12 and still had Corel 8 on the computer.
Now the problem: Corel 8 and Corel 12 could not open the Corel 8 clipart disk #2, only just down to the folder level. When I right clicked on the Corel 8 disk #2 clipart folder and checked the Path Properties it gave me a path other than the correct clipart disk location (in my case it should have read E:) BUT it was some weird location like
MNfisherman referenced above and read: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Corel.! What the?! I knew the path should have read E: to access the clipart since the clipart was on the disk and in my CD tray, so I uninstalled Corel 12 thinking that was the problem since 8 had worked fine, then checked the clipart CD again but still no luck.
I then uinstalled Corel 8, so now I had no Corel program on hard drive. I put the Corel 8 clipart disk #2 in the computer knowing it would not open the clips but just to see if I could get beyond the folder level to see if the clipart files were there and yes I could. (I could only read the names of the files at this point because no Corel on computer) So I only reinstalled Coreldraw 12 figuring the later version would open the older version clipart and Success! It worked. I think my problem had something to do with the Corel 8 MF indexer, but I'm not sure. I had a red semi circle (like the Corel Set Up Semi circle) on all of the clipart folders instead of the regular yellowish fold so thats why I think it had something to do with indexer or other type of setup conflict). Now all of my clipart folders appear normal being the regular yellowish color folder.
I suggest using a clean slate by unistalling all versions (Make sure you shut down the computer after each uninstall to get rid of all of the components of the program and then restart the computer) and then only reinstall the newest version. Hope this helps. Good Luck

My Corel Draw 8 locks up when I try to save my project. Any suggestions. I am using Windows XP

I have seen this under XP SP3. The following solved the problem for me.

Install Corel 8 from the CD. Reboot.

Get the 369 and 433 upgrades from the Corel FTP site. (Those upgrades are no longer available on the web site, but there is a pointer to the FTP site on the "Updates and Patches" page).

Apply the 369 patches. Doesnt matter what version the CD is -- the patches check to see if they need to be applied. Reboot.

Apply the 433 patches. Reboot.

Start the XP Compatibility tool. Make the settings for PhotoPaint and Draw "Windows 2000", "No XP Themes." Reboot

Hi, I'm running Corel X4 on windows7 and the combine function has become unstable, sometimes working, sometimes not? Can you help?

Corel Draw (all versions) has had problems in the past with one or more of the program's features becoming unstable or not working. Even doing an uninstall and reinstalling the program won't correct the problem.

Corel suggests to open (create) another user account and to use that account with Corel Draw. This usually works.

Image quality in MS Word

JPEG is a raster image. Every pixel is identified to the computer.
MS Word is resizing the picture to make it fit. When it does this it causes pixels to disappear. This is why you will get blocky images and or unreadable text.

The Solution is

Re size the image and bump the dpi to at least 300. This will add enough pixels to where you won't notice the stair step.

The professional way to do it is with Vector images. This is difficult to do if you are using a photograph. You will need to plot the image out (basically re draw it with lines and bucket fills)

Hope this helps you.
