Question about Mitsubishi WD-62725 62" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Red solid Status light , error code 41 short detected

I have the exact same problem, I replaced the caps and after turning on , I got this loud squeling noise coming from the front speakers. But the timer was running so I waiting the noise out and after powering up the set the noise went away, and the TV turned on and everything seemed fine, but after about 2 minutes it shut back off and now all I can get is a Red solid status light with an error code of 41. If I end up finding anything I'll let you know, but so I havent been able to fix it.

    Oh yeah I forgot it was on a WD-52525

  • kilroyo Jul 19, 2009

    I had only replaced the caps on the power supply board, after looking further , it looks as if the caps are blown on the FMT board also.

  • kilroyo Jul 19, 2009

    well changed out the Caps on the FMT board ,, still same issue ,,

  • kilroyo Jul 20, 2009

    I did end up finding the issue ,, it was one of those very flat thin short ribbon cable that interconnects two of the boards, but being able to find a replacement is a whole another issue. Where to find one?

Which caps did you replace.

    This chassis has been a nightmare for capacitor related issues. chances are you also have bad capacitors on the DM and Input Board. Although when these are bad on the DM, you will get the constant blinking green timer light symptom. I will see what else I can find for you. Could you get me the serial # off the set? Sometimes my contacts need it to help.

  • Steve Yocum Jul 20, 2009

    I can give you Mitsubishi's Parts Dept Phone #.

    Good job tracking it down, I hope they can get you one.

It is helpful to have the sequence of the blinking red light. This may help:

3. Error Code Operational Check

Note: The TV must be in "Shut Down" and not have been switched Off, to perform the Error Code Operational

Check. When the TV is switched Off, the code automatically resets to "12" No Error.

Pressing the front panel "DEVICE" and "MENU" buttons at the same time, and holding for 5 seconds,

activates the Error Code Mode. The LED flashes denoting a two digit Error Code, or indicating no problem

has occured since the last Initalization.

Note: The front panel buttons must be used, NOT those on the Remote Control.

• The number of flashes indicates the value of the MSD (tens digit) of the Error Code.

• The flashing then pauses for approximately 1/2 second.

• The LED then flashes indicating the value of the LSD (ones digit) of the Error Code.

• The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times.

Example: If the Error Code is "23", the LED will flash two times, pause, and then flash three times.

TV turned off by itself one day. I pressed reset, timer light blinked green for a minute, then I pressed power and it sounded like it wanted to boot up, but nothing happened and the status light turn

Two thoughts:

First is this is a DLP set and the lamp may have failed

Second is it should have the self check which reads error codes---most of these sets that is the same:

" After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
(then release both)

The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.
For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.
Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:
12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected
This is for a earlier Mitsubishi DLP but should be the same as your set as Mitsubishi rarely changes things like this.
If you get the lamp abnormal it is likely your problem.

Own a mitsubishi WD-52525 52 in. Rear Projection HD TV. Already been through the "blinking light of death" problem about 2 yrs. ago. Now have a steady red lamp light. Purchased new lamp, installed, and...

You have to take the TV apart. Pull the electrical chassis out and look for bad electrolytic caps on the boards. sounds like caps on the power supply board are bad. You can tell if they are bad by the fact that their tops are puffed up and they may or may not be leaking brown fluid. Compare them against the other caps on the boards and you will see how they have flat tops.

BUT before you take the TV apart you can check the error codes by pushing "menu" and "Device" at the same time and holding for about 10 seconds. The status light will blink two numbers. ex. one flash pause two flashes is 12 Error Code Probable Cause

12 No error detected

37 Engine (DMD or Lamp) Fan failure

The colorwheel is your problem. To confirm this, unplug the tv, then listen thru the air vents in the back as you plug the tv in. You will probably hear a ticking sound. If you do, that is the colrwheel. If the colrwheel is working, youwill be able to hear it "spin up". It will be a sudden high pitch whine. Let me know if I can be of further assistance
