SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Use a USB cable that will connect where the power cord plugs in. Have a fully charged battery before you try.

Enter waypoints via computer keyboard

Install Mapsource from Garmin on your computer. It will allow you to enter your points then upload via serial or USB.

How do I get Map Source and related software on a laptop in addition to my desktop? I want to be able to make route and waypoint additions away from my desk for a Garmin nuvi 265WT.

Mapsource comes on a cd and is just installed like any other program. Then you access it from the start menu. Once you make your routes or poi's you connect the nuvi with the usb cable and upload.

I have a Power / Data Cable that I do not understand what it connects to

It is not a fish finder but the good news is that the cable connections are listed here: http://www8.garmin.com/support/faqs/faq.jsp?faq=68

The data wires are to send / receive serial data (like waypoints, tracks, routes and software updates) to and from a PC for example or any other 3rd party device that accepts that type of information - the manual will have more help. The 178C is the combined chartplotter / fishfinder - not your model.

How does one update th gps?

You connect the 2720 to your pc with the supplied usb cable.
Power up the 2720 with the ac supply cable.
Then run the garmin webupdater. It will do the update.

You must have previously installed the webupdater and the usb drivers. If you use the garmin mapsource software and can connect to the 2720, to transfer waypoints, tracks, etc., then the usb drivers are already installed.

You can download the webupdater at this site:
http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp

Hope this helps.

How to download from gps to my pc

There is freeware out there provided by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources that allows Garmin users to download their data in a number of different format. Search "DNRGarmin GPS Application" and follow the instructions. This is great for GIS user because it will download to a shapefile.

It has the ability to upload some data, as well. Although, I suspect there are fewer options for uploading data than, say, Mapsource.

I've got a garmin E-Trex Vista CX and Mapsource software. After creating routes & waypoints (for Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike & Mount Snowdon) when I download these to the GPS unit each subsequent...

The contours are not coming from the routes and waypoints, they are coming from the mapping software. You must load all the map segments at once to your unit. You can upload routes and waypoints separately and they will not erase the other ones already on the GPSr unit.

Raymarine Raychart 520 Interface to PC

you will need to hook up direct. Seatalk wont handle a waypoint download, but the chartplotter will accept the data directly into the NMEA in port. All other data, like wind depth and latlon are handled by seatalk

Trouble connecting to any computer

Hmmm..

Make sure your using a USB cable, specifically a USB cable with a mini connector on the end. Specifically, a USB cable with the second one from the left in this picture:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:USB_types_2.jpg

If you are using the USB port, you should have no need for setting COM ports.

Another technique you can use (which I just figured out today) was to place the Garmin Unit in "USB Mass Storage Mode". This allows you to offload saved tracks, but I don't think you can download waypoints or other things that the WayPoint Manager allows.

You can access this option via the Garmin Unit

Goto: "Main Menu" -> "Setup" -> "Interface". Press Down to get to the button "USB Mass Storage". Plug in that USB Mini cord, and you have a thumb drive!

Good Luck!
