Did you change the capacitor on the fan motor. Could be bad if not bad fan motor. But sounds like a cap. Russ

Initially fan in indoor unit was surging,cutting in and out,now has stopped completely and red/green flash twice followed by red flashing 4 times

The flashing indicates a fault code. Not knowing what make / model you have makes it impossible to determine the exact fault. If the indoor fan was running erratically, it may just be a fan capacitor on the indoor unit. Some units have a separate capacitor, some have the capacitor mounted on the main indoor control board. Check and see if the fan starts if you give it a flick to start it spinning when you turn the air con on. If it runs and the error flash does not appear, then you will know its a fan capacitor.

Air conditioner fan is blowing but not air coming

If you mean that your OUTDOOR AIR CONDITIONER FAN MOTOR is blowing AND no air is coming out of the vents within your house, it clearly indicates to me that 1 of 2 things are wrong.

Either (1) your INDOOR AIR HANDLER is NOT running or (2) the INDOOR AIR HANDLER is running but your PLENUM has come apart.

If your INDOOR AIR HANDLER UNIT is NOT running, it could simply be the circuit breaker is OFF/TRIPPED and simply needs to be turned OFF; then turned ON. If that does not FIX your problem, then it is most likely your 5 micro-farad run capacitor for your indoor fan motor needs to be replaced. It will prevent your indoor fan motor from energizing. Worst case scenario would be your INDOOR FAN MOTOR has windings burnt and needs to be replaced. If your indoor air handling unit is equipped with a CONDENSATE VALVE CUT-OFF SWITCH, check to see if your drain pan is filled, thus energizing the switch. If the CONDENSATE VALVE CUT-OFF SWITCH is ENERGIZED, it will prevent the AIR HANDLER FROM energizing. That is the design and the reason for this valve.

Good luck.

F6 error code on Frigidaire split unit ac, model FSC12CM6J/FSE12CM6J. Solution says to check fuse? Where is this located?

It seems like the indoor fan is not running. Quite a few split systems have a fuse on the indoor board. It will require stripping off the outer cover of the indoor unit and removal of the electronic box cover. The indoor board is in there. The fuse may be replaceable or it may be a type that is soldered on which makes it virtually non replaceable. ( A new indoor board will be required) Make sure all power is turned off or disconnected before you do anything. Another possibility is the fan motor start capacitor has failed. Try this first before stripping the unit. When the unit is turned on and the outdoor unit has started, give the indoor fan barrel a flick with your finger to start it spinning, if it keeps spinning and the error doesn't appear, it would indicate that the fan motor start capacitor has failed. The capacitors on indoor units are normally small black square boxes with 2 terminals on it. These capacitors are mounted inside or close to where the indoor electronic box is. Again, make sure all power is disconnected or turned off at the meter box before you do any disassembly.

When I turn on the unit, it humms and the fan doesn't turn. Help.

If you can easily get to motor I would unplug unit and check motor to see if it turns freely. If it does I would plug the unit back in and see if the humming noise is coming from motor. Ifyou decide that the motor is the source of the noise and you can do so safely spin the fan and see if it will try to run, If it does I would unplug unit and give fan motor and blades a thorough cleaning. Clean any hair,lint or dust from aaround motor shaft. A small motor like these does not take much to slow or stop them. Plug it back in and try it. If it stiil does not work I would replace the motor. Hope this helps. Thanks

The unit has power, all controls work. The machine "turns on" when the humidity level exceeds the level set. However, the fan or wheel or whatever it's called does not turn. I took apart the unit and...

I have the exact same problem. I've isolated it to the thermal fuse for the fan motor. This can be confirmed by jumping the black wire to the blue wire coming from the fan motor while the unit is running. Only problem I have is I haven't been able to locate the fuse yet.

let the unit cool down
with power on try sticking something in there to spin the fan blade
if it spins and continues to work it is a bad capacitor (little shiny metal can sometimes oval or round)
if it doesnt spin i would have to guess the motor is bad
hope this helps
