Sony KP-53V75 53 in. Rear Projection Television
I am not sure exactly which power supply that model uses but here is what I usually do: Remove the power supply board and be sure to discharge all of the power supply capacitors. Look near the large cap(s) and AC rectifier for a small white resistor whose value of 0.1 ohms is printed on it. That is your power supply fuse. Measure the resistor and if it is open then you can bet that the switching transistors are shorted. On older sets there are 2 separate transistors (2SD4834) and the newer sets have the 2 transistors combined into one 6-pin package labeled MX0841 or MX0842. If you find that part shorted then replace it and the Sony 0.1 ohm "fuse" (use exact Sony replacement parts) and your set should be fine. If you find that the 0.1 ohm resistor is good then there is a much more serious problem and the set should be serviced by a qualified tech experienced in Sony sets.
