Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
This sounds like your Audio Video Input Cable may be bad. This is quite common and can be easily tested with a friends cable or you may have to purchase another one.
You may also want to check this on another television set to ensure that there is not a problem with the current set's input connection (it does happen).
If this just suddenly happended, then you may have inadvertently set it up for Standard TV as opposed to Hi Def or vice versa.
If you have not tried resetting the video, then while your PS3 is in standby (red light) hold down the power button on the PS3 for 2 beeps. That will reset the video options.
Try it out and post results.
I hope this helps,

Well you can just use the hdmi cable if you're going both audio and video in to your tv. With your hdmi cable you get the best quality for both.
But in anycase, it seems that your PS3 is set up to output video via HDMI cable. To reset our video output settings, simply power down your PS3 (turned off) and hold down the power button until you hear the second beep. (around 5-10 secs) Power back up and hopefully you'll have video via your av cable. Hope this helps.
