Roxio Creator Basic V9 that comes included with HP Pavillion Desktop does not install

I have purchased an HP Pavillion Desktop that uses Vista, and am having trouble with the installation of it. When the installation is started up, it gives me a message that the "feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavalible...click ok to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'RCPCORE.msi' in the box below."

In the box below there are two options, 1:c:\hp\tmp\src\RCP_CORE_HPCPC_34\ which does not work and
2: just a plain 1

neither works and i am frustrated, can you please help

Yes the Program Creator Basic V9 came with the HP Desktop as a pre-included program. I meant to say when the program is started up it has to install itself. First it tells me that i may need to restart the computer for the program to acess some files, and then it gives me this error message. Does this help?

I have a new HP desktop with Roxio Creator Basic v 9. I am trying to make a CD to send Christmas pics to family, BUT it does not see/show any jpg files. Roxio only shows the following type of files: gi. iso. udi. cue. c2d.

I can not burn my files if they do not appear in Roxio Creator Basic 9. The jpg files do show in MS explorer and I see them in MS Windows Photo Gallery.

Does anyone know how to repair/fix this?

Yes the Program Creator Basic V9 came with the HP Desktop as a pre-included ..... as you can see, exactly the same as the last guys, but i've an added problem..... i went to control panel and clicked uninstall hoping that i would be prompted to click on "repair"...... needless to say i uninstalled the b****y thing completely!. I don't know how to repair it, or where to get a download..... and if i do, can i get the easy media creator 10 and use that instead?,

I am having the EXACT same problem & error message. to reply to the one person who left a solution... we don't have to install it ourselves, when you go to open the program, "WINDOWS INSTALLER" pops up and says it's configuring Roxio Creator Basic v9, even though it's already equipped (installed) on our computer. We do not have the actual disk.

Per HP tech I unintalled everything with name Roxio on it. The went to start, all programs, pc help& tools, recover mgr and clicked advance options and clicked on the software re-installer then selected the Roxio program.

Done this twice and took about 30 minutes to re-install and both times all I get is the Roxio Labeller???Called back and seems no one can help me unless I do a complete recovery. Which I do not want to do. Help

I finally figured out how to fix the problem. First you find the sofware program reinstaller in the recovery manager (search for reinstall factory programs in the help section). Follow the instructions and select roxio Creator. Then as prompted to by the reinstaller, de-install all existing components of roxio by using programs and features in the control panel, and then finally re-install. It now works like a charm.

Hope this works for everybody else. Thanks to everybody who helped out also!!!

The latest is Easy Media Creator 10 Suite.
This Roxio Creator Basic V9 came with your Vista machine?
But you have to install it yourself?

Or did you have The V9 already from another, older HP machine?
If so it won't work on Vista.

This is where you need to call the HP tech support, it is a free service.

Or try doing a search for the missing file, 'RCPCORE.msi', Select "all files and folders" and select the top three items in 'More advanced options"

Then right click on it and select 'open containing folder'.

Then select (in the containing folder's menu bar) Tools then folder options, then View, put a check in the "Display full path in the title bar" hit the "Apply to All Folders" then the "Apply" button. This will give you the full path of where the missing file is located.

When the installation message comes up, click cancel. For every other dialogue box that come up keep clicking cancel. Eventually the program will load and you will be able to use it.

First, may I recommend Nero Burnlite 10? Nero BurnLite 10 is your solution for CD and DVD burning and copying, powered by the industry's best software. The easy-to-use interface lets you make flawless copies of music files or home videos to share, or create disc images in .iso and .nrg formats. Download it for FREE today!

If you don't like Nero, you may like CDBurnerXP. CDBurnerXP is a free application to burn CDs and DVDs, including Blu-Ray and HD-DVDs. It also includes the feature to burn and create ISOs, as well as a multilanguage interface. Everyone, even companies, can use it for free. It does not include adware or similar malicious components. It is compatible with Windows 2000/XP/2003 Server/Vista/2008/Win7 (x86 / x64). Download it for FREE today!

You will need to contact HP to try and obtain another copy of Roxio Easy Creator Basic, if they even have it anymore. I would recommend sticking with one of the previously mentioned CD burning programs because they are more stable than Roxio, and burn better quality CDs.

There are many different formats of music, so many it gives me a headache. I will try to help you as best I can. First I need to know what format you saved your music as in your "My Music" folder. ie: wma, mp3, wav etc... Now store bought cd's have a format all there own *.cda, If you use Microsoft media player to copy your original music cd's into your My Music folder you can tell it what format you want to have upon ripping your cd's. I believe that roxio offer's two types of disk burning as well
Data/Music make sure your using the correct platform.

Your computer is a good one, so is Roxio a good software. but it seems like a compatability problem. Roxio likes Vista, but does windows like Roxio? I would run a compatability test, windows will do it free.

Using roxio creator basic v9 when i burn disc its writing to the disc (700MB) without giving free space,i just made a copy of original cd which has 162MB,after writing to new disc, showing 700MB used..

Burned CDs always show as being fully used. That is so users don't think they can just copy files onto it. The way to find out how much free space is to subtract the amt. of space used from the capacity of the CD. Also most CDs are burn-once so after you burn it you can't add or delete files anyway. Only CD or DVD "RW" (read-write) discs allow you to re-use them.

Roxio Creator Basic v9 does not work with jpg files

The "burn image" option you are getting into is for burning full CDs of data, like a 1 to 1 copy.

You want to click on the Data Disk option. Then you can add files, or whole folders of files. You can change the default name "Volume Label" to what ever you want.

Hope this helps.
