Projector Adjustment for Magnavox 51mp392h/17

I recently moved and since then it seems as if the projector is pointed down about 1/2 an inch or so. I cant seem to move the picture up so that I dont have any cut off at the bottom. The colors are great however, no offset at all. Just the overall picture is slightly lower cutting off the bottom.

Is there a way to manually adjust the picture?

Sounds like a timing problem to me.... There is an adjustment you can make, but it's a "trial & error" fix: you have to make an adjustment one way or the other in the camstack, and then see if it's worse or better (relative to a correct slide cycle). This adjustment is made with the projector upside-down with the bottom cover removed. Check out the attached picture for more detail on where & how to make the adjustment.

If it looks anything like the picture (3D etc) it will need the "Convergence circuit" repaired.

Let me know if you have questions.

Philips 51MP392H/17 - Red lines on the screen. When I block the red projector the lines go away and the picture is fine (aside from the color)

You have a red drive problem or possibly a bad red tube. There are a lot of parts between the signal processor and the red tube so it is hard to say what exactly is the problem. Have a shop check it out for you. Thanks for using fixya.

The screen is starting to have red and green blurring

sounds like the coolant if it appears as halos. If it appears like a 3D picture its the convergence ICs.

Rear projector tv rear blue projector wont focus

Look into the top of the tube. Probably has fungus growth. Do a search. I posted that solution many times this week for that. Normally, focus don't go out on T.V's by themself. Either the tube is bad or has fungus or the screen control is bad.....but very rare will focus part fail...usually brightness/screen is at fault. Don't forget to check the green tube as well when looking. Take the back off and see if your head will fit. If not, a large mirror will do just fine. Put something on with writing displayed....easier to tell that way.

I have a Magnavox 51" Projector TV. Model 51MP392H/17

Hello bullmuscle,

This is a power supply problem, I would suspect the HV power supply because the primary and secondary supplies anymore are tied to the HV power supply. This type of repair requires certain pieces of equipment, to test voltages, look at signals, and to if need be test for shorts in inductors (Switching PS transformer and Flyback transformer). I would not recommend that you try to fix this yourself, The cost for this type of problem is not that expensive and can be done in one evening, if the parts are available. You may be fortunate and it could be just a blown fuse, in the HV or LV power supply circuit

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Shuttle83

No, if the Red doesnt adjust with the remote, You will need to replace both STK392-120 Convergence ICs. Its a fairly easy job if you have basic soldering skills, and you will also need about four 6.8 ohm 1 watt resistors for your model. You can get replacement ICs and resistors at the following link and they provide free instalation instructions with pictures. Heres the link.

51 magnavox projection tv-color mixing wrong

The are controls on the inside of the tv above the circuit boards for focus and to turn up intensity of the projector lamps (red, green, and blu). If you turn it up too far all three projector lamps kick off. If this happens, power off the set and turn down the lamp that you turned up. Power it back on and slowly turn the projector lamp up until the picture looks OK. You have to take off the panel on back of set to get to the controls.
