If it was working before, there is no need to worry about the firing order as that never changes. Things to look at;
Clean and correctly gapped spark plugs,
Clean gas,
Fuel filter?
and a clean carburetor, float bowl and jets.

Ideal gap can vary depending on the brand of spark plug.
Best solution is to choose your spark plug brand and then check in the online application catalogue for that brand - the recommended gap is usually listed alongside the type listed for your machine.
Most likely points (dwell is too short for good spark when hot)... possibly ignition coil.
Does it use oil?
First check plug is not fouled and gapped correctly. Note condition and color of electrode. Could also be low voltage issue. Run 'til it starts missing then measure battery voltage with PTO on.
The best way to test for spark is to take off the wire to the spark plug, put the metal end of a screwdriver into the socket, hold the metal of the screwdriver about 1/8 inch or 3 mm away from a metal part of the engine, and crank the engine.
If you don't see a spark in the gap, the problem is in the ignition system, not the spark plug.
If you do see a spark in the gap, take the spark plug out, reattach the wire, touch the spark plug to the engine, crank it again to see if there's a spark in the spark plug. That will tell you if the spark plug is faulty.

If this is a Kohler engine make certain that you have replaced both the points and the condenser with new parts. You should not see sparking at the points if they are installed and adjusted correctly. For Kohler, the correct point gap should be about .020 inches - use a gauge. Don't assume that your spark plug is good - replace. While the number of spark plug failures is few I have had it happen.
Check ingition switch, check battery voltage 12-12 1/2 volts,check in run position same voltage, check in start position same voltage We've check switch first. If not problem we've check the points for proper voltage and opening and closing.
