Re: Stuck bit

Had the same problem. You need to disassemble the collar by removing the c-clip on the end. be careful not to lose any of the parts, because there is a small ball bearing that may drop out. Once you have access to the inner cylinder, you might be able to go through the hole where the bearing sits and chisel the bit out that way. I used a tig welder to heat up the broken bit first, then pried it out with a punch and some needle nose vice grips.

Re: Stuck bit

I have also had this problem and it is from using incorrectly fitting bits !! i removed the bit spraying the chuck with CRC and then levering the chuck up with a blade screwdriver and pulling on the bit using a little force !! I found this was the only way to fix this problem . To stop this from happening again only use quality bits in your drill.

How do I remove a stuck drill bit from a Makita keyless chuck accessory?

If the drill bit is stuck where it was inserted before tightening and, even if it broke off, put the chuck in a vice with some kind of cushioning to protect it from scratching, soak the whole assembly with wd 40 or similar, and, assuming that you can get a wrench, with some cushioning, on the part that holds the bit, see if you can't turn it. Some tools have tighteners which are made to turn opposite to what you might think so try it both ways.

My impact drill runs fine, but the working end does not turn.

If the motor is spinning but the bit isn't you have one of two problems. The armature has gear teeth on the end to turn the transmission. If they are stripped out you need a new armature, part number 16-01-3020. If the armature teeth are OK, you need a gear box assembly, part number 14-30-0920. If you don't have a tool repair shop near you to get parts from, you can find them on sites like where prices are fair but you do have to pay S&H.

I have a Hitachi WH 18 DFL cordless impact driver, which I love. I was doing a little bit of heavy drilling, and now the drill bit is stuck. The sleeve extends as if to release the bit, but the bit do

My guess is that the bit twisted a little in the bit holder so the steel ball is bound. If the collar moves you could try a slide puller on the bit and see if you can impact it out with the slide puller. Or you could take the bit holder apart. There is a retaining ring that holds it all together right on top. Pull that off and a washer, spring and the collar will come off. Becarefull to watch for the steel balls on the spindle. They WILL fall out! Now hopefully the bit will come out. If not it may need to be twisted in the oposite direction that it got stuck when you were using it to break it free. Hope that helps and good luck!

Bit stuck in drill

OK, try to grab the chuck tightener and loosen by pressing lightly on the drill throttle button in whichever direction it takes to undo the stuck in drill bit.

I do this all the time.

My dw056 breaks bits can you change the hammer to a 1/4" or 3/8" hammer they look the same on the manual

in order to make the 1/4" hex drive impact drive 1/4" or 3/8" sockets, you need a 1/4" hex adapter for sockets.

They are available at most hardware stores. While i've broken several sockets, and many screwdriver bits, I've never had an issue with with the socket adapters.

You can also get an adapter that gives you a chuck like a conventional drill.

If you've been working them hard, it's not a bad idea to remove them, and put them back in. this reduces the chance of getting the bit stuck from the repeated impact.

As far as changing the chuck of the unit to another one, i'm not sure if it's possible.

Someone stuck a conventional driver bit into the impact driver and it is stuck tight.

VERY GENTLY. . . . use a flat tip screw driver to try to push the collar forward so that it will release the bit. You may need to gently hold the handle of the impacter in a table vice or something like that to steady the tool, then push forward on the collar with a screwdriver and use a pair of pliers to pull outward on the bit at the same time.

Or instead of a screwdriver try vicegrips that are adjusted loose enough to just lock but not squeeze when closed. Pliers that grip too tightly may bend the collar and keep it from being able to slide forward to release bits.

Bit is stuck in btd142 driver

the makita impact drivers are picky about the bit that you use. if you use a single sided bit you have to make sure the distance between the channel and the end is 9mm (3/8) and if you're using a double sided bit you have to make sure the distance from tip to channel is 12mm (15/32)

try using a 1/4" wrench on the bit in reverse while pulling the collar back. if that doesnt work, tap the tip of the bit with a hammer with the collar pulled back

Bit stuck in quick release chuck - makita btd142

What has happened is the hex part of the bit has twisted slightly making it hard to remove. What I would do if you are comfortable with partial disassembly is remove the quick release mechanish. There is a split ring that comes off first and then a washer and spring, next remove the outer collar and SMALL steel ball from side of chuck. I take a pick (dental tool) and push up or try and twist the stuck bit. Sometimes it takes while but usually this works. Let me know if I can try and help further.

Stuck bit

I have a thought. How about drilling a small hole from the back(motor side) of the driver assembly and then push out the bit with a small punch? I have considered this, but I don't know yet if the driver is hardened. If this works, the problem should be solved for all users. Then the remaining isue is finding the proper grease for reassembly
