If the battery is good and fully charged, it should turn over. If you have a pull rope as well as the starter, make sure the engine will rotate. If not, you can do the same thing by placing your hand on the air vent screen on top and twisting the air screen. If the starter was hung up, usually the solenoid won't click. Have your battery tested, make sure that it is fully charged. Although unlikely, the solenoid could be bad. I'm betting it's the battery charge.

When you turn the key, do you have 12V art the Starter?
If you do, then tap the starter with a small hammer. If it cranks, then your Starter is failing

The PATS security system would prevent the engine from cranking if the system does not "see" the right chip in your key. If the system is working correctly, the light should go off after you turn the key switch on.
You should have power on the small starter wire when the key switch is in the start position.

Won't start battery is ok.

REmove the starter for checking . IT may require a new solenoid or you may have a dead bar in the commutator which will require a new starter.. This is evidenced by sometimes you can start easy and other time the solenoid clicks every time you turn the key and then suddenly starts. IT comes from the armature stopping with the daed bar under a brush and when it turns just enough to touch another bar away it goes

2007 Dodge Caravan won't start.Batt. is good, all lights work, Turn key, solenoid clicks and stops, all gauge needles slowly move to max., and return to min. No codes displayed.

When you try to start it do the lights dim way low, have you been able to start it with a jump from another vehicle, unfortunately, chances are the starter needs to be replaced. How many miles does it have?

Car won't start. New battery installed recently. Only clicks when trying to start.

one single click any time you turn the key usually indicates a bad solenoid on the starter. A new starter will typical get you going.

A series of rapid clicks when you try to start usually indicates a weak battery. There could also be a bad connection at the terminals on the battery or even a poor connection at the starter.

If you get a single click and everything goes dead for a couple of seconds than you definitely have a bad connection at the battery.

Let me know what you find or if you have any questions.

2004 ion won't start. Lights work. When I turn key don't get series of clicks, get one snap.

That symptom usually means the solenoid on the starter is bad and no longer is completing the circuit to engage the starter. A new starter will likely solve that issue. A series of rapid clicks would indicate a week battery. You can try repeatedly turning the key to the start position rapidly, sometimes the starter wil start working. You can also try tapping the starter while somebody holds the key in the start position, if the starter engages place it.

Snapper that will not start. Just clicks

If it starts with the key when you jump it then it sounds like you have a bad or dirty connection in your battery cable or your battery is just too low. You didn't indicate where you were connecting your jumper cable, from the tractor battery or from another source. It could also be in your ground wire (but not if you only have to use one jumper cable). Remove the negative from you battery. Remove terminal from starter, and clean and be sure terminal is tight on the wire. Remove + cable from battery and clean. Remove ground terminal from engine, clean that connection. Check that the starter is firmly bolted to the engine.
