Replace the pumps mechanical seal with a replacement seal #200. It's less than $10.

If it is just dripping a little and it is outside don't even bother until to freezes up. The pool will evaporate much more water than is leaking through the pump.

I am installing a 1592SP Power-Flo Matrix pump and I cannot seem to press the positioning button (it does not depress) to rotate the discharge port. I have taken off the strainer housing, but no matter...

I just went out and did mine. My button didn't depress at all at first. While trying to push the button in, jiggle the discharge both ways; the button will move in and the housing rotates very easily.

This June, I had to replace my strainer housing on my Hayward Power-Flo Matrix pump. It cracked in cold weather before I remembered to remove it. On installing a replacement, I noticed that the pump showed...

One or more of a couple issues is at play here. First would be the seal replacement. Even if you used the correct seal if you touched the surfaces or failed to install it properly it can and will leak. Second, inspect the housing around the seal fit and the stem of the impeller for cracks. A hairline crack is enough when placed under pump operating pressure to allow a leak. Somewhere in there is your solution.

Where is the button to turn the discharge from vertical to horizontal? The manual states to "simply push the positioning button and rotate" - can't seem to locate the button!

Press the positioning button located on pump housing and rotate discharge port to desired position.

Note: the Discharge port will only rotate 1/4 turn.

Hayward flo pump motor repair

What exactly is wrong with your pool pump? If it won't start at all, check for improper or loose connections, blown fuses or tripped breakers, and open your switches and replays. Manually check the rotation of your motor shaft. Make sure that there is free movement and no obstructions. If the motor hums, but won't start, check for obstructions and check the Centrifugal switch to see if it is stuck in the open position. If you have low flow, check pool pumps for clogged or restricted strainer/suction line and discharge line of filter. You could also have an air leak in suction (bubbles issuing from return fittings). Low voltage could cause loss of suction. Check for plugged or restricted impeller.

How hard is it to change the seal and bearing in the power flo matrix? It is not leaking but is squealing bad.

You have to completely disassemble the pump and motor to replace a seal and the bearing(s). It is better to take it to a local electric motor repair shop if you are not sure how to complete these repairs. We charge about $60 total for the job and guarantee it a year. Most shops should be about the same.

On the right side, usually opposite the discharge. You may need to use a butterknife of flat head to push it in; push in and turn.
