How to configure 4 port router - Edimax 4 Port Wireless AP Broadband Router (br-6104wb)

You really need to put up more information than this.

For most home users, there is nothing to configure on most routers. You plug the internet into the "internet" or "wan" port, and your computers into the other ports.

If you just purchased and opened the box-

1- open your package and take out the instructions on what do to for setting up (not the manual)
2- connect your modem (source of internet) to the internet port of your router with the cable provided by your router packaging.
3- with the other available cable (that you already had) connect to one of the 4 ports (prefferably port #1) and the other end to your PC/Mac
4- If everything was powered on already during the connection of all these cables, you can to unplug the power to the internet modem (source of internet connection) and your router now.
5- Plug in the Internet Modem power to the wall and wait 30-45 seconds... then plug the power to the router and wait another 30 seconds.
6- now, try to go on the internet with your computer.
7- if it still doesn't work, just restart your computer 1 time
8- If it still doesn't work after you restarted your computer (very important to do this 1 time after following abpve steps), check the router's instructions for troubleshooting tips and follow up post us where you're stuck and provide to us:
What model router you're using, PC model and which Windows/Mac Operating system you're using. :)

Your provider probably sent you either a cable modem or adsl modem. If you connect the single port on the modem to the WAN or Internet Port on the Linksys and then connect the computers to any of the 4 ports that are grouped together, it should work.
Mac or PC, it makes no difference and drivers are not needed.
Unless this is a new router or it is one that you personally configured, I recommend resetting it back to factory default by holding down the little red button for 30 seconds, this eliminates any configuration issues that someone else may have introduced.

Reconfigure as a WAP only

Do not use a cross over cable, use a normal cat5 patch cable connected from one of the lan ports on the other router to the wan port of this router.
Configure this router to obtain ip address automatically (like it would be configured to connect to a cable ISP)
Turn off DHCP on this device.
That should do it. If it does not, let me know because some router want a static route configured.
If you want 2 seperate networks with internet access, leave the dhcp on but change the internal address so that it is different from the other router.
ie: if the other router is 192.168.0.1, this one can be 192.168.x.1 (where x is anything but 0)

Dual Routers?

Disable DHCP in the router. Connect the modem to a LAN jack on the router. You'll have 3 LAN ports. If you need more ports, buy a hub. (You can change the default IP address on the Linksys, but you can't forward through 2 NATs.)

Cant get decent speeds from u torrent

Hello,

I recommend checking out http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Belkin/F5D7230-4/eMule.htm

This is a great tutorial on configuring port forwarding on your particular router. This example is for emule but it will be very similar to uTorrent. You will want to determine what port uTorrent is configured to send data on and use that accordingly.

Good luck!
