That's because when you reinsert the bucket into the bucket holder, it's not making firm contact with the bucket safety removal switch. When you reinstall it, be sure that the bucket fits "squarely" into the holder from top to bottom. Once it's inserted properly, it just not tilt down on the bottom.
What has happened is the the tubing that fills the bucket is clogged. To solve this, first turn the unit OFF & Unplug it. Then, remove
the water collection bucket and look up inside the bucket holder
cavity. You will see either a drain hole or small tubing that drains the
water into the bucket. Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic
Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the hole or tubing.
Continue to push it in until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will
need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend, until it either
bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly pull the Zip
Tie back out while rotating (twisting) it. This will breakup any clogs.
As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared, as some water
may follow. Reinstall the bucket, plug the unit in and turn the Master
ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extraction level to 35% or
Maximum if you have a manually controlled unit. Allow the unit to run,
while you monitor it for any leakage.
NOTE: If you don't have a Zip Tie, you may use something similar ( i.e.a long pipe cleaner), but NO wire coat hangers
Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.
Four things can cause this problem:Before attempting to correct any of them, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF & unplug the unit.
1. The water bucket is not properly installed into it's holder. 2. There is a crack or hole in the water collection bucket. 3. The float valve in the bucket is stuck in the UP position. If your bucket is so equipped. 4. The drain hole and/or tubing to the bucket is clogged.
The first 3 are easy to solve. The third requires a little more work.

Terryle. the problem may very well be a clog in the drain tube to the bucket. Even a partial blockage can cause it. Follow the instructions below to resolve the problem.
1. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF & Unplug the unit.
2. Remove the water collection bucket from it's holder and set it aside.
3. Inside the top of the bucket holder cavity, you should see a small tube or hole that drains water into the bucket.
4. Using an 18" long plastic Zip Tie or something similar (NO wire coat hangers, though) that is appropriately sized to fit into the hole or tubing. Carefully insert the tip of the Zip Tie into the hole and continue to insert it, until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly, work the Zip Tie past this bend. Until it bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly remove the Zip Tie while rotating (twisting) it. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared, as some water may follow.
5. Reinsert the bucket into it holder, making sure that it fits "squarely" from top to bottom into the holder. Plug the unit back in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set you humidity extraction control on 32 to 35%. If you have a manually controlled unit, set it on Maximum and take it for a test drive. In about 30 minutes or so, you should be able to tell if it's still leaking or not.

More than likely, the water drain tubing inside the unit is clogged& the water is not going into the bucket as it should. To solve this, do the following.
1. Turn the Master ON/OFF to OFF & Unplug the unit. 2. Remove the bucket and look up inside the bucket holder. You will see a tube or a hole that drains the water into the bucket. 3. Using an 18" long plastic Zip Tie or something similar (NO wire coat hangers though) that is appropriately sized to fit into the hole or tubing. Carefully insert the Zip Tie, until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work it past this bend, until the Zip Tie either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. While rotating (twisting) the Zip Tie, slowly remove it. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared for some water to follow.

This can be caused by two things: The bucket is not inserted properly or the drain hole or tube inside the unit is clogged and needs to be unclogged.
When removing and reinstalling the bucket, make sure that it fits into the bucket holder "squarely" from top to bottom. When installed properly, the bottom of the bucket should not tilt downward at all.
To unclogged the drain hole or tube: Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit. Using an 18" long plastic Zip Tie or something similar (NO wire coat hangers, though) that is appropriately sized to fit into the drain hole or tube. Carefully insert the Zip Tie and work it in slowly. You will reach a bend in the tubing and you will gingerly, have to work it past this bend. When the Zip Tie either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie, slowly remove it while rotating (twisting) the Zip Tie. This will dislodge any clogs. Once you near the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared for some water to follow.

Turn the unit OFF and unplug it. Remove the water collection bucket. Look inside to see if there is a float valve device near the top of the tank.If there is, it's stuck in the UP position. Jiggle it, to make it return to the DOWN position. Once it goes down, reinsert it into the bucket holder.
If your unit does not have a Float Valve, when you reinsert it back into it's holder, it has to trigger the bucket removal safety switch. To make sure it does that, insert "squarely" in the bucket holder making sure that it's square from top to bottom. The bottom of the tank should not tilt downward, if it is inserted properly.

there is a microswitch that is activated when you push the reservoir home, it sounds like the switch arm has either come adrift or needs reseating, or the nodule on the reservoir is not activating the switch, either worn or broken. hope this helps.
