No tension on bobbin thread

My machine was sewing fine when suddenly the bobbin thread lost all tension. I'm afraid to fiddle with the bobbin tension because I haven't changed anything. I had been quilting with a walking foot. The last thing I did was rapidly sew 6-8 stitches in place (at 0 stitch length).

You might remove the bobbin assembly looking for a broken tension spring (maybe a piece of it lying in the bottom the bobbin case.

My singer 600 was sewing beautifully and then all of a sudden the thread looks fine on top of fabric and the bottom bunches all up and then locks up.

Clean the machine and oil where the manufacturer instructs you to do so. Inspect your bobbin case for bits of thread and lint. re-thread machine and wind a new bobbin. Make sure you're using a good needle, that it isn't bent, dull, or burred. Be sure you're using the correct needle for the type of fabric you're sewing. If you're still having issues, adjust your tensions, both top and bobbin tensions must match to make a proper stitch. adjusting the bobbin tension should be done in very small increments and then tested.

Bobbin tension not good

it is called birds nesting and is the result of the needle thread tension being too loose
the bobbin thread tension is not as critical as the top thread tension so tighten up the top tension

Machine running as if sewing but threads not sewing

What type of sewing machine is it? Did you thread it correctly & have you fidgeted with the tension controls? generally it's the tension thats messed up if its not actually stitching. the bobbin case is in correctly and the bobbin thread has been pulled up?

I have a new machine at it was working fine...suddenly it began sewing the design with bobbin thread. Rethreaded, changed bobbin, and changed needle (over and over). Also, change tension. No help. No...

The way the thread passes thru the bobbin tension on this machine makes it real easy but sometimes the thread doesnt go where it is supposed to. Try doing it several times, you can feel the thread get tension when it fits in correctly.

Sewing a bunch of thread from the bottom, this stops the machine from actually sewing

Yes, it does. There are a couple of reasons the bobbin thread could be bunching up on the underside of the fabric. It could simply be that the machine needs cleaning. Take the bobbin assembly out, brush all the old lint out as best you can, reoil the machine once it's all clean, and make sure there aren't any little bits of thread caught in the bobbin assembly. Rethread the machine (carefully) and change the needle. This solves the problem usually--especially if the machine was sewing along fine and the problem develops suddenly. '
The other thing to check is your tension. It could be that the top tension is too loose. But different color thread in the top and in the bobbin, stitch a few inches (be sure to held the top and bobbin thread ends behind your needle as you start to stitch) and check. WIth the pressure foot down, adjust the tension, and stitch again. Keep stitching, checking, and adjusting until you see little if any bobbin thread on the top or top thread on the bobbin.
Another thing to reminder: use the appropriate thread and needle for the fabric you're sewing.
Let me know if this works, ok?

My bobbin wont feed through

take the bobbin out check for debris (pieces of thread, lint, etc.) that may be jamming the bobbin. check under the feed plate for a thread jam or debris. check if your bobbin is wound too tightly. it can happen! then it will keep breaking. the other adjustments are mainly for thread tension- the spool on top. if they're too tight, the thread will keep breaking. you can tell- once they're properly adjusted- by the quality of the stitch. check the bobbin first! if it's too tightly wound, you can probably adjust the winding tension on top. try a different bobbin. if that works then 'rinse and repeat!'.
good luck!

Sewing a straight seam will be going well until the bottom thread suddenly becomes very loose and loopy. The top thread is completely fine. The only clue that this is happening is the spool "jumping"...

Hello,
Here are some solutions to try.

* Increase the upper thread tension on your machine. It may be too loose.

* Decrease your bobbin tension if your sewing machine allows you to adjust it. Consult your manual.

* Reinsert your bobbin. It may be inserted incorrectly.

* Change your thread. If your upper thread and bobbin threads are different types, try using the same thread for both.

Although you did this, it won't hurt to re-check. Make sure bobbin is threaded correctly.

Hope this helps.

The machine was working fine then all the sudden I have too much thread on the bottom of the machine where the bobbin is.

That usually indicates a total loss of upper thread tension.

Take the bobbin out, un-thread the machine and start over.

Place the bobbin back in to the bobbin case, making sure to follow the illustration on the bobbin cover.

Then, with the presser foot up and the take-up lever in the highest position, re-thread the machine.

The upper tension dial should be set on 4 or 5.
