10 watts per square foot in each room you want to heat. assuming that you are installing 240v baseboards.

12000 btu's per 500 square feet is a good rule of thumb

Hey. I’m about to purchase the PLF2004 240v Hydronic Baseboard Heater 2000w. My question is, do i need to pull a neutral?

240v will be 2 "hot / 120" wires and a ground. Refer to the factory specifications for amp draw and be sure you run the right size to handle the load and use a breaker properly sized as well.

I have a Dimplex Ritz electric 2000w heater that is only working on the low 1000w setting. When the high setting is selected it auto turns off and there was a funny smell which I am assuming a fuse has...

Yes, it can be repaired, if Dimplex still stocks that particular heating element. It's not to difficult to replace the heating element, just mark all the wires before removing the old one. Also, it will require removing the logs inside the heater, because you will need to turn the stove upside to do the removal and replacement. Contact Dimplex Technical Support at 1-888-346-7539.

Hope this helps you.

How do i tell how much power ... kwh ...electric ... for cost of use analysis ... what's a good thermostat degree of heat selection for a room that's now 40 degrees wi/ room size = 40X30X10

you first need to find out how much a kwh of electrical power coast you then you need to find out your killowatt's an hour your heater is then work out how many hours you roughly use it for so lets say its 20 cents a killowatt hour and yourheat 2.5 killowatt an hour you times 20 by 2.5 and that equals fifty so its fifty cents an hour and lets say you use for about 4 hours a day that is coasting you $2 a day this is an estimation figure only, and your thermostat degree setting it doesn't matter about the size of room the thermostat only controls temperture so you should set at 70degrees for a comfortable area and to save money you set it at 65degrees, the size of the room is only to work out the size of heater in killowatt's

If i have a room 16x24 how big of a electric baseboard heater do

It is not the size of the room that is important it is the heat loss of said room. If it is a inside room, with no outside walls, it will take less btu's to heat and maintain comfort levels, where as if it is a room with floor to ceiling windows, you will obviously need more btu input. Hope this helps.

When the flame goes out, So does the pilot light

what kind of heater do you have? is is a vent less heater because if it is the main reason it would shut off is the ods(oxygen depletion sensor). make sure that the heater is not too big for the room. also purchase a carbon monoxide detector

How do i know what size baseboard heater to use in any given room.

Basically each baseboard should be rated for a particular heat output...Watts...which should have an equivalent to square footage...look in the Specs or askj the Supplier....and that will vary on the Heat loss of each particular big the windows well insulated the room is etc

Yes ,you can and fuse at 13amp.
Although the correct way would be to terminate the plinth heater in a switched fused spur or an unswitched fused spur fused at 13 amp
This can either replace a single or double socket or it can be taken of the socket by using 2.5mm2 twin and earth cable.
All parts availiable from hardware store or electrical retailer

Can I wire two heaters on one source? I have model RDH2010 (1000W/2000W)which is 240v. I am using 220 wiring,

One, double pole, 20 amp breaker feeding the two heaters will be okay IF you have #12 AWG wire and NO other loads on the circuit. 4000 watts will pull 16.6 amps, that's max for a 20 amp circuit.

Electricity cost per hour

1500w / 1000w = 1.5 kwh. Every hour you run (assuming it is at 100% peak power) you use 1.5 kw. Just multiply that rate by how much it your power company charges per kwh.

Estimating high at 10 cents per kwh it would be $1 for every 10 hours you run the heater, or $2.40 per day, or about $72 per month if you ran it 24/7 for 30 days.

It is FAR cheaper to use these types heaters to heat one small room than an entire apartment or house if you are only in one room the majority of the time.
